George Washington was a big fan of imported English Porter. By 1769 he'd lost his taste for British beers. After all, it was keeping the Redcoats fighting. Our Porter is based on a recipe from 1750. We bring you the original aromas and flavours of the beer that made London the world's brewing capital, flavours we know Washington would have loved. Time, care and attention have enabled us to produce a blend of beers bringing you the flavour of the 1750's. Share this beer with friends and enjoy with barbeques, fish or shellfish. The ruby colour & bottle conditioning are proof of its heritage and authenticity.

Celebrating the new year (2013) with this beautiful brown glass, wine-looking bottle with a cork and cage. Pours a dark brown colour with a big beige, cream-frothy head, that stays long and gives out patchy lacing. Vanilla aromas covering the roasted malts, with notes of the hop eventually coming out, giving some fruitiness over the coffee. Watery coffee taste with a little hop covering the roasted malts. Decent, but just a little too watery for my likings, especially at 6.5% ABV.

The beer pours a very dark brown with black hues and a thick creamy light brown head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. The mouthfeel was medium to full bodied, slightly creamy, with ample carbonation. The flavour is quite bitter with roasted malt and coffee flavours backed by some chocolate. No sweet notes to be found. -

Pours a dark amber brown with a nice fluffy white head that takes its time. Aroma is strong at first crack but slows down after a bit. Taste is of mostly roasted malts and a slight metallic hint. Taste of alcohol is noticable but is not too intense. Over all a pretty good porter.

Nice dark brown color with nice white and long lasting top. Aroma has strong cookies and caramel in it. Taste is a bit bitterish and a bit too simple, but the nice bunch of flavors are starting to open up in your mouth later.

750 ml corked bottle. Poured in a snifter a dark brown-red coloured Porter with a one finger beige foamy head that had a mid-sized retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Some lacing. The aroma is roasted malts, toasted coffee beans, ripe dark fruits, raisins, plums, spicy, licorice and dark chocolate. The flavour is a rich mixture of roasted malty grains and coffee beans, dark ripe fruits, raisins, plums, figs, spicy, licorice, molasses, an aciditic touch and at the end of the sip emerged the dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is crispy, fizzy, full and very smooth. This light to medium bodied Porter has a lingering rich finish and aftertaste. It's a mix between acidity, roasted malts and the bitterness of the chocolate. I ... simply like it !

Aroma is quite strong, smoky and coffee-ish with a firm overtone of unsweetened chocolate and a hint of brown sugar. It pours a dark warm brown with a fairly thick and persistent light tan head. Flavor is smoky with good tones of fine roast coffee and unsweetened chocolate along with hints of molasses and a touch of spice. Texture is smooth, a bit thick, and somewhat fizzy.

Sampled on 10/14/2009. This porter pours a deep copper brown color from a corked 750ml bottle. Medium sized tan foamy head with decent retention and nice lacing. The aroma is roasted malts, touch of chocolate and a touch of smoke. A light to medium bodied Porter. The malts are roasty, semi-sweet chocolate, fruity and a touch of toffee. The hops are earthy. Nice balance. Decent carbonation. It’s definitely on the lighter side for a porter, but I like the flavor mix. There is a touch of vanilla at the finish. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

a nice example of a simple english porter .. nice roast level .. medium in the mouth .. . a bit tart, nice aftertaste .. . low foam .. a good brew that needs a less fancy bottle ..

typical porter aroma, which is nice, but a bit on the weak side. I'm a little distracted from the roasted aroma and flavor by a slight sour note, which doesn't quite fit the style. we tried side by side with another english porter (santas's butt) and liked this one better, although both were slightly disappointing. i'll stick with fullers!

As a fan of porters i was excited to try this style (london). It poured a deep mohagany, amber when held up to light, with a thick tan head. There wasnt much aroma to speak of. The flavor was overwhelming of alcohol i couldnt belive that it was only 6.5%, the other flavors were cherries, roasted malt, carmel and a little chocolate, but the alchol drowned them out. If it wasnt for that i would have rated it higher.
