The long sea journey to India transformed pale ale, brewed big and hoppy, into the mighty IPA that slaked the thirst of an empire. Just downriver from IPA's original London home, Meantime is once more shipping beer overseas to undergo the ageing process that makes Meantime Britain's only brewers of authentic India Pale Ale. Small batch production allows us to apply the attention to detail and care we require to produce an authentic IPA especially for you. Pound upon pound of Fuggles & Goldings hops are needed to enable us to achieve the dry hopping rates necessary to recreate this great beer style. Enjoy with hot foods and spicy friends, or vice versa.

I'm usually not a fan of English IPA's (see, I love Amurika ;)...hophead here); however, this is a nicely-balanced brew. Good head and lacing, burnt orange color. Aroma is slightly sweet. Flavors are predominantly floral, citrus, and caramel. Very nice.

Gift from Tim. Light hazy dark orange, off-white lacing foam head. Nice hoppy aroma and bitter taste, no outspoken, modest. OK beer, not outstanding. (Rotterdam 201704)

Pours a crystal clear amber with a sub one finger head that disappears quickly. very well carbonated with some lacing. Aroma is fruity with a hint of grass as well. Taste is dry with hints of fruits, hops, grass, and alcohol. Taste is very light, almost reminds me of a light lager and not an IPA. Very good looking beer but it isn't the best tasting. OK beer.

Nice example of an English IPA - from a corked 22oz bottle, pours amber orange with a rapidly dissipating head. Well balanced and not as hoppy as some of the big west-coast styles.

750 ml corked and caged bottle. Poured in the original Meantime stemmed tulip glass an unfiltered and hazy copper-brown coloured IPA with a large two fingers beige foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Sustained carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is intense citrussy and piney hops, spicy, orange peels, larges notes of honey. The flavour is caramel and light toasted malts, dried fruits, walnuts, spicy, orange peels and deep citrussy and piney hops. The mouthfeel is crispy, creamy, a bit oily and sticky and smooth. This medium bodied IPA has a lingering fruity hoppy bitter finish. I could easy imagine this Meantime interpretation of an IPA is close to the original English IPA.

Hazy darkish golden color, huge and white fast dissapearing top. Aroma is strongly flowerish and hoppy. Taste is strongly bitter with hints of bread and aftertaste is really good and refreshing.

A deep amber colored beer. Big frothy textured off white head rises above. And stays for a fair amount of time. The lacing left behind is film aplenty and robust cap/ringlet. This is in aroma and taste a laid back IPA. And that turns out to be impressive. Spices are quite evident in the tasting. A full bodied ale with just the right amount of carbonation and creaminess make me want more.

Bottle: Poured a hazy light amber color ale with a super huge foamy head with nice foamy head with great retention and good lacing. Aroma of grassy hops is really nice with a subtle caramel malt balance. Taste is also dominated by loads of grassy hoppy notes with lightly sweet caramel malt which is well balanced by floral notes. Body is quite full for style with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not as bitter as the American IPA nor as dry as the English IPA but very nice with loads of floral notes.

corked 750 - i gotta say up front i’m a big fan of american, especially west coast ipas, although the british versions can be quite good as well, but to me, they have a lower ceiling. this is a solid example of the latter, but not the best. biscuity yeast, and a well balanced malt and hop presence in the aroma & flavor. mouthfeel is smooth, but a touch thin. the overall taste is nice, but there’s just a touch in the finish that has a macro-brewed quality to it that prevents me from rating it higher. I’d drink it again if offered, but there are better IPAs for far less.
