This Farmhouse Ale traces its roots to the small rustic breweries of Southern Belgium. The word Saison comes to us from the French language and it means Season. Lightly spiced with Organic Ginger, Orange Peels, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise, this brew promises to quench your thirst on the hottest Southern California days or wherever your travels may take you. Available in 750 ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations. OG 1.065 TG 1.012 6.7% ABV Malts- Two Row, Flaked Wheat and Flaked Oats Hops- Phoenix and German Tettnang Yeast- Belgian Saison Yeast Adjuncts- Dextrose, Ginger, Orange Peel, Black Pepper and Grains of Paradise The Red Barn Story Be it a river, a brook or a stream, there is something so incredibly soothing about the sound of water moving peacefully with the land it cuts through. You stop and watch as fish of all sizes dart in and out from the banks foraging for food. SMACK, a small trout plucks another water bug from the surface causing the rest of the insects lounging in the placid pools to take flight. A boy, looking very much like you at 10 years old, settles in along the bank near his favorite fishing hole. Dressed in tattered jeans, a checkered shirt and straw hat, he is instantly your own personal Huck Finn. He baits a hook as a worm squirms away not realizing the fate bestowed upon him this day. You watch Huck settle into the grass knowing there is nothing to do but sit and wait. This simple scene confirms in your mind that this is a brook full of life and you set out on the path revealing its edges. Along the way, a whispering easterly wind begins dancing in harmony with the overgrown grass in a shady grove. Breathing in a ballet of choreographed movement, nature rehearses. The brook rambles along pausing only at a small waterfall. Crystal blue water cascades in a soothing chorus while no one stops to notice the beauty to behold. For too many, this is nothing more than simple farm land. Off in the distance, a Red Barn hides out content to do nothing more than was asked of it. Another summer day stretches out towards the crisp autumn nights and soon, work will begin on another harvest. The barn relaxes knowing full well that for each and every season, it will remain unmoved- yet touched by everything that nature has to offer. And we’re left to wonder, does anyone notice or even care to stop and appreciate the beauty of the Red Barn?

It seemed to pour a lemon color with a light small head. It's smelled very citrus and malty. I couldn't bring myself to finish this beer. It was very bitter and lemony. It was as if someone took a flat unsweetened lemonade and infused it with alcohol. It wasn't really my thing, but it was my first time trying a beer like this, so who am I to really judge?

It pours a hazy burnt-orange/apricot with a thin white head and some specks of lacing. An aroma of bready malts, tart apples and oranges, peach, butterscotch, bitterness, and light spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth, thick, and rich. Flavors of bready caramel malts, hops, oranges and citrus, tart apples, peach, pears, bitterness, and spices. Excellent!

An earthy musky concoction of malt, yeast, spices and hops that didn't quench my thirst. A cloudy pour, golden orange in colour, with a white cap. Some tart fruity notes in the aroma along with musk and wet grains. Flavour didn't impress either with the earthiness just not in it for me.

Pours a lovely, slightly hazy amber with a very thick off-white head that hangs around for a while. Aroma is strong, fruity, yeasty and malty with hoppy and sour hints. Fruity flavor has malty and yeasty tones, as well as some hoppy bitterness and a sour undertone. Texture is quite fizzy and leaves a tingle that has a tone of grapefruit somewhat like an IPA. This beer is for sipping and savoring, not for swilling. Also, it is best appreciated by itself.

Typical cloudy body with a minimal cap. First aroma is strange but I’ll describe it as wet burnt pop (yes that’s what I smell) with some sour yuck and maybe ginger. Sweet ginger taste with lots of yeast and wheat, mild metalics and some sour funk are all noticeable. Brew reminds me of the typical Unibrou taste but add in some ginger. Ok I guess

hazy golden color with a cloudy white head. aroma is nice...a little barnyard, citrus & yeast. prickly feel that softens in the back...nice for the style. makes me gassy, though. flavor is intense for such a "light" beer. fruity with a hint of lemon and spices, a touch of funk, and some hops in the back with a dry yeasty finish. i'd go back for more if this were in 4 or 6 packs...probably won't get a 750 too often, though.

Bottled. Golden colour with mediiumnsized head. Aroma is fruits, some spices and mild earthy notes. Flavour is quite much the same. Earthy, spicy and some mild yeastyness. A bit thin for a "real" saison

Bottle, 6.7% ABV, RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg. Cloudy golden colour, moderate white head. Nice aroma of Belgian yeast and farmhouse. Flavour of Belgian saison yeast and some peppery notes.

Bottle courtesy of zythum. This pours a golden-orange color with a big fluffy off-white head with some excellent staying power. The aroma is banana, some cloves, fragrant yeast, and peppers. Flavors picked up are melons, banana, some barnyard funk but nothing crazy, spices and hay. What a great drink. Everything works with this and nothing at all seems out place. Very tasty, very drinkable, well-rounded, suitable for many occasions, a winner in my book! Thanks Ron!

was expecting more... I have had this happen three times now with lost abby beers... they seam really flat!!! is it me or what? Aroma was dry and bit of spice. Poured honey color with some agitation I got head. Mouth feel was a bit of sting to it. Flavor was bitter back end with some spice and nothing special that stood out to me..
