Brewed by Interbrew for Abbaye Notre-Dame de Leffe.

330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Clear deep golden colour, large white head. Strong sweetish aroma of white kandij sugar syrup, ripe bananas and dust, hints of green peppercorns and ginger. Sweet flavour, notes of white kandij sugar syrup and malt sugar, with a much needed counterpoint in spicy notes of green peppercorns, ginger and moderate hops. Might well have another one, but not necessarily in the same session.

There is a rumour that this beer is available in the US, yet I see no reviews....pity. I was able top secure myself a large 750ml bottle in exchange for my first and second born's children. They were brats so it was worth the trade. A cloudy rust coloured pour with a creamy head. Light fruit and yeast penetrated the nostrils followed by toffee and grains. Flavour is toffee, figs, yeast and grass. Quite delicious I thought!

Pours a clear golden colour. Medium sized head with average retention and lace. Aroma is spicy, banana and yeast. Flavour has caramel malt sweetness, spices, plums, yeast, and light fruits. Medium well carbonated mouthfeel. Would have liked more of the hops inside the bottle than on the fancy label outside. Still it's an enjoyable beer

Pours a huge foamy creamy looking off-white head and has a fairly clear golden appearance. Lively carbonation. Dirty sticky lacing. Aromas of caramel, earthy hops, toffee even bubble gum. Flavours are mostly bready malts, a bit of yeast, earthy hops, kind of a bit sugary but overly, like cane. Actually quite a smooth mouthfeel, goes down quite easily. 7.5% abv is just not apparent, at first of course. Great retention.

Part of this years "Our best of Belgium" Christmas pack with 3 brews and 3 glasses. Pours a clean rich golden-amber colour with a decent head in the Leffe Chalice with some nice lacing. Aromas of fresh hay, bananas and caramel. Dryness in the nose from the alcohol and yeast. The taste is balanced between the grain, caramel, grass, spices and background of mineral water. Interesting and nice black classy bottle, but not as good as some other Leffe.

Part of a Christmas Gift Pack. The beer pours a golden copper colour with a long lasting white rocky film for a head. Aroma is yeast, bready malt, light fruits, and caramel. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, plums, vanilla, and yeast. Quite enjoyable. No notice of the alcohol as found in a previous review. -

750 ml corked and caged black bottle. Poured in the original Leffe Royale designed Chalice a clear and rich golden-amber coloured BSA with a one finger light beige and creamy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is deep toasted malts, riped fruits, apricots, peaches, apples, herbal accents, rosmarin. The flavour is deep toasted malts, caramel, yeasty, massiv candy sugar, fruity, bananas and spicy, vanilla, cloves. The mouthfeel is fulled, sparkling, light syrupy and massiv sweety. The texture is a bit oily. This full bodied BSA has a long malty and sugary finish and a warming alcoholic effect. This new creation in the Leffe range is pretty interesting, a superb look, a well flavoured BSA, but the alcoholic feeling is too massive to make this Leffe Royale a royal tasting !
