Cheli's Wood Aged Pale Ale With his legendary training regimen off the ice and his rugged style of play on the ice, Chris Chelios was a perfect combination of talent and grit. Chris’ unconventional path to professional hockey is a testament to his incredible work ethic that allowed him to play the most games ever for a defenseman, while collecting three Defensive MVPs and three Cups en route to a Hall of Fame induction in 2013. This partially-filtered golden ale is capped with soft white foam. Dry hopping with Ontario-grown Chinook and Perle hops gives it a gentle citrus nose. Medium in body, the subtle but complex hallmark of oak aging comes through in the beer’s exceptional smoothness, which takes it right through to a finish that is rich and tapering. 7% alc./vol., 40 IBUs Lake of Bays is releasing just 11,000 bottles of this limited-edition oak-aged beer in May 2015

Pours a slightly unfiltered golden colour with tiny particle through it. Big frothy-creamy warm cap, good retention and some foamy lacing. Fruity aromas of citrus with mostly oranges and then, some grassy hops. Some light spices from the oak, but not much vanilla. Maybe hints of it in the background. You can feel it a little more in the taste, helping soften the bitterness in the middle, for the hop to come back in the finish and create some nice dryness. Bitterness lingers. Not a bad Pale Ale to sip slowly.

The beer pours a translucent golden brown with a creamy off-white head that lasts. The aroma is weak oak, citrus, caramel, and bread. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is oak, sweet malt, yeast, and citrus. One of the better Lake of Bays beer.
