This is a smooth, full-bodied beer. A rich “nuts & berries” flavor followed by a coffee like finish. Based on the traditional English Porter beers of the late 1800’s. Originally created for the hardworking Irish immigrants manning the shipping docks in England who wanted a ‘stout’ style brew with more alcohol content to drink during their all too short lunch breaks.

a nice, well blanced, no frills - but well made porter, courtest of pfoxyjohn. 1st of 3 porters for the night. aroma is light, but nice...roasted malt, descernable hop presence, with hints of chocolate, cofee, & smoke. medium bodied. dark brown with thin tan head. fairly flavorful. more smoke than in the aroma. smoke, chocolate and bittering hops in the finish.

Pours a dark dark reddish black colour with a medium sized creamy tan head. Aroma is pleasent, very enticing and incredibly desert like. Taste is flavorful. Milk chocolate and peanut butter flavors. A big robust beer. Great taste all around.

Courtesy of pfoxyjohn via beer trade. Pours a coffee black with a medium tannish head and some lacing. Some carbonation. Aromas of dark chocolate and coffee that is very slightly acidic with some hops. Taste is rich with a bitter chocolate coffee and slight hops finish.

A beautiful dark brown with a ruby-red hue and a thin but persistent tan head. Aromas of roasted malt and chocolate with fruit - cherries? The mouthfeel is more full, smooth and creamy than is the body, which tends to be just a little light. Tastes of rich chocolate -- dark, robust, and bitter-sweet. A clean and nicely balanced, mildly bitter, generous finish. This is an English-style porter with real character. A superbly-crafted namesake beer from brewmaster/owner Tom Porter, Louie's nephew. While "some folks make bombs in the backwoods, [they're] sticking to beer", and this is one of the best weapons in their arsenal, "smuggled out of the woods for [our] drinking pleasure".

This porter pours a medium to dark brown color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is chocolate and fruity. A medium bodied porter. Malts are chocolate and fruity. Hops are slightly earthy. Nice balance. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

This porter pours a ruby black. The flavor is a sweet roast maltiness. This is definitely not as good as the Prairie Moon saison but it’s still not a bad little beer.
