Pours clear amber with a frothy eggshell head. Aroma features firm hoppy and malty notes plus hints of wood and fruit. Flavor takes these up a notch, except the fruit, which goes up two notches - clearly mainly pear plus some apple. Woody hops definitely make themselves known but impart very little bitterness. Mouthfeel presents average body but some decent fizz. A little sumpin’ enjoyable!

Bottled. Deep golden colour, small white head. Aroma is spices, hops, some alcohol, mild notes of marzipan as well. Flavour is sweet fruits, mild glue as well as some mild herbal and acidic notes.

Oct. 2009 - Pour was pale orange with fluffy white head. Lots of citrus in the nose. The flavor was predominanty grapefuit, with some doughy aspects and some toast. Sweet as syrup but plenty of hop punch to balance it out. I enjoyed it. Maybe a little too gummy and sweet. Better when on the colder side.

Lots of lemony hops in the nose with some pepper and a sweetish malt smell. Pours a not quite clear deep gold body with a frothy white head that has good retention and very nice lace. Mouth is medium bodied slippery and perhaps a touch under-carbonated. This beer has an unusual flavor profile! Sour grapefruit rind and bitter but with a sweet toffee malt presence. Alcohol is NOT masked. There are some pepper notes and, oddly, some grassy notes too. This will not go down as my favorite taste profile. The bitterness is a bit over the top and is slightly chemical tasting. Aftertaste is very chemical. A bit disappointing from a brewery that I am fond of. There is a bit of soapyness to the end taste as well.

Delicious, dry DIPA with a fruity hop character. The beer pours bright and golden with a creamy slightly off-white head. There’s good head retention and lacing. The aroma has a touch of alcohol as its only very slight downside. Otherwise, it’s bright and fruity with hops. It smells like mangoes, raspberries and lemons. There’s a caramel malt note in there, but it’s buried beneath handfuls of hops. The flavor is dry, not quite Pliny-level dry but still excellent. The grain tastes fresh and clean and contributes just the right amount of sweetness. I imagine this beer has some wheat in it, like its little brother, but it’s not very noticeable except at the first moment of flavor and possibly a touch in the aroma, just a whiff of bread. I’m really trying to find it, though. Anyway, the hops are the star. They’re big, bright and fruity. There’s a touch of pine resin in the flavor, but it’s still mostly tropical fruits and berries. The bitterness level is excellent and stays on the palate quite pleasantly. Another winner from Lagunitas.

last beer before I’m off to Orlando for the fun.. . damn, look at those socks on the label .. . i haven’t had a fish in 2 days, denial... . pleasant smell, like sweet fresh hops and daisies .. . pours with a mighty fine head, lacing is awesome, and the colour is of new copper ... . east going bitterness, and the abv is very well hidden! .. . way to easy to drink, my mouth is the vacuum and this beer is the dirt! no loss of suction! ... . is fairly simple...

This is really delicious, but this is hardly an IIPA. This is probably one of the tastiest IPAs I've ever had. I was wondering where the "sumpin' extra" was. There ewas a grapefruit hops perfectly balanced with solid malts. Looks beautiful: golden orange and a soft filmy/foamy head. Lacing all over the glass. Mouthfeel is full and easy to drink. This is a fabulous beer; the only detraction is that I don't think this is quite big enough to be an Imp. IPA, especially from this brewery.

I was expecting hoppier. This beer pours a dark gold with a tan head. The aroma was pine and floral hops with some malt tones. The flavour was only slightly hoppy with a swee5t maltiness that was unexpected.

Not a fan of this. Either my taste buds are way off, or this was a bad bottle. I’m willing to re-rate if it was. The beer poured out a medium amber color, clear with a 1" creamy off-white head. Aroma starts out with a ton of cheese, old wet paper and butter. Ugh..not a good thing. After warming up a little, and several long swirls, the pineapple really comes thru. It’s like smelling pineapple juice. Flavor has more buttery cheese, some subtle hoppy bitterness and some toasted malt note. It couldn’t be that old of a bottle to get the cheese charater, so I will be getting another to compare.
Re-Rate: Wow. Much much better. I have no idea what the hell I got with my first bottle, but this one was significantly better. A crisp, well-hopped aroma and palate, very clean with a fantastic showcase of piney and citrusy hops and the wonder they can create. Very glad I picked up an extra bottle. But there are apparently duds out there so be aware!
