Didn't care for this as much as the slightly less alcoholic Ice, but still not as bad as the american counterparts (though owned by AB). No skunk, no offense. The abv was a bit much for this style, otherwise it was crisp and clean. Pretty simple mellow malt/corn sweetness and juuust a touch of hops.

Golden barf in a large bottle. I have never seen this in regular sized beer containers, only oversized ones. Tried it a party a few years (I was a chaperone) and it was the fast drunk method for a lot of the kids. They must have had iron stomachs because mine couldn't handle this. You would think that a 7.1% beer would be no problems after years of drinking Belgians, but this gives you an idea just how great those 10% Belgians are when 7.1% can turn your stomach!

Gross. Maximum Ice comes in maximum sized containers. The alcohol is very noticeable in both the aroma and taste - and that's not a good thing. A darkish gold colour with a strong adjuncty aroma and alcoholic.

S3L2T4F3O10: max ice by labatt. Big black 24 oz can of labatt max ice. It says ‘no preservatives’ and has a black lightning bolt on the label. Smell is a bit like cheap corny lager or malt liquor. I poured this into a big 24 ounce heavy glass mug. Nice streams of sparkling carbonation can be observed within. This is fairly strong on the taste buds with a relative amount of offense. It is not as strong as many rude cheap ice beers I’ve had. This almost uncouth beer has a decent amount of tingly carbonation on the palate. Does not become really vulgar, at first, anyway. That sharp aroma of malt liquor never quite develops on the palate. Not much stronger than the typical labatt ice. I found this easier to drink when compared to many appalling ice beers. Overall, not really bad, anyhow.

Presentation: Poured from big 24oz can into a pint glass. Appearance: It pours a clear golden color. The head is big, foamy and bright white in color, which quickly fades to thin ring around the top. Smell: The aroma has a heavy malty character that is bready and biscuity. There is a strong milled corn scent as well. Taste/Mouth feel: A thick sweet liquor taste and a grainy malt character drive its flavor. Hop flavors are light and add only a light grassy taste and some bitterness to the finish. The carbonation is fairly high but fades and becomes rather slick in texture and its light to medium bodied. Notes: Its malty to the max and it will get you loaded quickly and cheaply. Overall it is a passable brew for some serious drinking.

Got the 40oz. of this one at The Beer Store. Pours a golden colour with a white foamy head that goes away quickly and leaves nothing behind. Uneven carbonation, coming from only a few spots. Not a good looking brew. Typical Canadian macro malt nose with not too much alcohol present. Watery mouthfeel with no burn. Malty taste with lots of corn in the aftertaste. Effective drunkos.

First off don't think the mention of "ice" and strength makes this an eisbock equivelent....so judging it as such is a misdirection and ignores the purpose of modern ice processes which Labatt pioneered, and by my estimate, perfected. So many "ice" beers are tasteless and don't deliver the smooth drinking qualities that the ice process is supposed to give the brew. This one does! The idea is that the finished brew is partially frozen.... water freezes first into small crystals taking with it dead yeast and other unmellowed proteins which can be filtered off raising the alcohol level and mellowing the beer. Obviously Labatt started with a husky version of their lager to put through this ice process because this taste is mild and mellow. As a mainstream mega brew strong pilsner....this ones about the best if this is a genre that turns your crank...for me, I like it only in special circumstances.....like on a hot day right out of the ice chest when you only want 1 or 2 beers to cool and relax you. This one's the ticket for that Pours a medium straw color....crystal clarity.....small pilsner-like head....that vanishes quickly....medium-low carbonation activity . Smells likeother Labatt mega pils...slight waft of grains and hop except almost over powered by carbonation and alcohol esters. Starts smooth (not at all sharp) builds to a very likeable lager type fullness with malty-grain tastes and finishes light with a strange lingering light banana like taste created between the malt sweetness and the alcohol. All in all, good summer drink but watch your consumption the brew is so smooth you have a tendency to not realize how much you've had and it creeps upon you.

this beer is quite simply the best of the strong beers simply brewed to get you schnockered. if you are in a bar where they have this, and you have limited money, go for this. the first sip is very over-powering- that strong alcohol feel and taste, but after you get beyond that, and you do get beyond it quickly, it goes down pretty good, compared to other beers of this style.

The king of Labatt's strong beers. If you're looking for maximum alcohol with minimal price, this is it. Very strong alcohol taste that overpowers what little taste this has. Not entirely bad cold. Inexpensive and inoffensive as powerful suds are. For quickie drunks, not for all night sipping. Malty aftertaste.

Max Ice: better known for it's alc % than it's taste and with good reason.
