St. Nicholas, aka Santa Claus, is a magical figure, the bringer of gifts and an icon of holiday spirit. Forgotten by most is his evil side kick and enforcer of ‘the list’. European tradition says while St. Nick is busy delivering presents to good little boys and girls, Krampus hands out punishments to the bad. A fanged, goat-horned bully, the Christmas Devil uses sticks and chains to beat the naughty children. Dark malts and aromatic hops create the diabolical spirit of this brew. It is finished with lager yeast and aged cold for no less than 30 days. This Imperial Helles Lager will warm even the darkest hearts. This season, replace the cookies with a bottle of Krampus. If he happens to pay a visit, toast to him with this devilish brew. Merry Kramp-mas to all, and to all a good pint!

Krampus on Krampus. Anyway... Deep clear golden pour with a tight, short, sustained white head, sporadic lacing. Tons of malts, some grass, spicy and citrus hops in both the aromas and taste. Big beer, rather hot for a lager. A touch more sweet with the malts as it warms. Slow drinker - not going to slam this one.

Pours a bright golden from the bottle. Lots of little bubbles and spritz. Aroma is decent enough, looks tasty. Mouthfeel ends up being a little blah. Flavors are interesting, big hops, citrus presence, a little grain and herbal notes.

A bright amber colored beer. Big creamy textured, white head rises above. Great hang time, settling eventually into an impressive lacing of splotchy film aside the glass and a thick ringlet atop the body. The nose and tasting are about a well crafted blending of sweet malt and floral-pine hops. Medium bodied and crisp this was a very good beer.

Sampled on 9/25/2010. This Imperial Pilsner pours a deep orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head with nice lacing and good retention. The aroma is bready, caramel and very sweet. A medium to full bodied Imperial Pilsner. The malts are bready, caramel and sweet. The hops are herbal and slightly spicy. Nice carbonation. A touch sweet at the start but balanced by some nice hops at the finish. Hides the alcohol very well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

Has a fairly strong hoppy aroma with a hint of honey and just a touch of apple brandy. It pours a clear coppery orange with a thick, fairly persistent off-white head. Flavor is fairly hoppy, a bit woody, and rather bitter - not terrific, but still palatable. Texture is smooth and just a little fizzy, leaving a hoppy and woody finish.

Bottle: Poured a medium orangey color lager with a large pure white frothy head with great retention and very good lacing. Aroma orange and dry European hops is quite enjoyable with some light phenols notes. Taste is a balance between some sweet malt with notes of fry European hops, light phenols and some orange notes – quite particular overall. Body is quite full with great carbonation and no signs of the alcohol. Interesting experiment overall thought not something I would drink every day.

Sampled from bottle. Pours dark gold/light copper with a generous off-white head. Aggressive hop aroma that has some spicy, herbal notes. Balanced with a good dose of herbal hops that eclipses the malt profile. The label might as well read Belgian Strong it's so far from any type of Helles. Regardless, while I've really liked ALL of Southern Tier's beers to this point, this one is one I wouldn't try again.

Pours dark gold, slightly cloudy, with tall, airy head. The aroma has some grainy notes, but is largely dominated by spicy-citrus hops. The flavor is a little astringent and there is cloying sweetness in the finish. Medium bodied and viscous to the point of feeling undercarbonated.
