La I.P.A.

4oz sample. Pours a small frothy beige head that dissipates to a thin coating, has an amber coppery appearance. Lively carbonation. Aromas of pine, resin, a bit of caramel and earthy notes. Flavours are somewhat sweet, some cereal malt hints, pine and grassy hops. Subtle bitterness on the palate, not too overwhelming. Not bad overall.

Enjoyed at the Brewpub. Pours a clean amber colour with a light beige head and good creamy lacing. Aromas of caramel malts and some grassy hops. The taste is quite hoppy, grassy over the caramel malts. Some nice roasted malts appear later. At first, seems pretty bitter for an Imperial IPA, but just less sweet than most of this style and grassier. Quite inviting with some darker malts.

From the 1. liter bottle at the " Mondial de la Bière 2009 " in Strasbourg. Poured a clear medium amber colored ale with a slight beige creamy foamy head that had a short retention. The aroma is herbal hops and fruity, citrus, lemon, notes of honey and caramel. The flavour is first resinous hops and then a sweet grainy malts feeling. The palate is very smooth with a well done malty/hoppy balance. This medium bodied ale has a lingering hoppy bitter and caramel malty end. A very nice and refreshing brew.

Bottle: Poured a clear amber color ale with a nice foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of floral and medium bitter hops is quite interesting surprisingly. Taste is dominated by some floral hops with a medium bitter ending. The malt bill used in here was well balance with hops. Body is quite full with some great carbonation. Probably not as hoppy as an imperial IPA should be but nonetheless an interesting beer from a so-so brewer.
