With all-natural ingredients, the Keoki Sunset's mahogany color hints at it's subtle balance of delicious, rich flavors. A slight roasted malt taste and good hop aroma gives this Hawaii beer a bittersweet chocolate complexity and a velvet-like body with a quaffable character.

OBF 2004. Medium orange color. Medium head. Aroma is caramel, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied Pale Ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are slightly floral. An English style Pale Ale. Nicely balanced. Smooth taste. Lively carbonation. Might make a nice session ale. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

didn't get too many of those aspects the brewer described above. a somewhat lacking amber...not aromaless, but less than par for the style. too much malt, not enough hops. C-.

Amber colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is hops, hay and quite bready along with some caramel. Flavour is hops, paper, caramel and bread. Not the most exciting APA.

After a rather vile bottle of Kona's Longboard Lager (not a good sign to have to damn-near toss a flagship beer of the Hawaiian beer scene down the drain), I wasn't expecting much from this much more obscure offering. But actually, couldn't have been hapier with this, to be honest.
Ruby-red/amber in appearence. Thick lacing from the resulting rocky head of foam. All with a fairly malty/grainy nose.
Flavor-wise, this was a basic but overall pretty decent Red/Vienna Lager, IMO. Came across to me as something of a redder/more maltier Hawaiian cousin to Samual Adams or Karl Strauss. Of course, as a hophead, would have loved to have this up the hopping a bit, but for the intended style, it's no slouch, by any means. Enough hops (Simcoe maybe?) to do the job here...
A pleasing Americanized Vienna Lager, that I can see getting again before flying back to The Mainland. A minor gem of a beer in the otherwise slim pickings I've sampled in Hawaii so far. Recommended.
