This is the first time we have brewed and oak matured a Porter, which has been imparted with great depth of flavour thanks to the addition of some roasted wheat, crystal malt and treacle (molasses). These flavour packed ingredients, along with our signature approach to long, slow oak maturation have created a sublime beer that is perfect for cold, dark winter nights.

Pours a foamy eggshell coloured head and leaves very little lace. Has a coppery appearance. Aromas of roasted barley malts, light breads and toffee. Flavours of chocolate and light caramel malts. Some mild spices, resin hops and a bit of sweet malts as well. Slick oily mouthfeel with a slight puckering sensation. Not my favourite I&G brew.

Treacle never tasted like this when I was a kid. Banana and oak aroma. Same for the flavour with some dark fruit.Sweet with an odd aftertaste,(soapy). Watery mouthfeel. It's a little different. Worth a try once.

330 ml from BCLDB Nordel Crossing. Nice looking pour of clear and dark amber under a brief beige head. Caramel/toffee aroma, maybe raisins. Flavour much the same. Sweetish finish. Not really a porter but nice enough to drink.

The beer pours a translucent dark brown colour with a thin brown head. Quite light for a porter. The aroma is oak, molasses, and dark fruit. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour is subdued, very oakey and slightly sweet. Not my cup of tea. -

Comes in their "Connoisseur's Oak Collection 2012" at the LCBO with one of their glasses. Written "Carefully matured for 39 days prior to release" on bottom-front label. Pours a clean dark copper colour with a beige head, average retention and a little lacing. Aromas of bananas, prunes, dates at first, and then some light butterscotch, vanilla, nuts and alcohol. The taste is much milder though. Kind of dry from the hop, with flavours of vanilla, dark fruits and sugars. Too bad this one did not taste as good and powerful as the nose. Seems like a watered-down Imperial Porter.
