Our sturdy Scottish Stout gains even greater flavour during its maturation in rare oak casks, obtained from a renowned Irish Whiskey distillery. The resulting beer is rich, complex and velvety smooth with notes of coffee and dark chocolate, and proves that it pays to have friends in the beverage business

May 2012: Sample at Copenhagen Beer Festival. Very dark brown colour. Moderate aroma of whisky cask and caramel. Rich and fairly sweet flavour, whisky cask and caramel again, but the hops are far too moderate for my taste ...

Comes out of the tap a deep coffee brown with a fairly thick and fine-bubbled light tan head. Aroma is not strong, but has inviting roast malt, caramel and licorice notes, as well as a hint of whisky-soaked wood. Satisfying flavor has a core of roast malt and notes of caramel, licorice, horehound and whisky, slightly but not cloyingly sweet. Smooth, robust texture has some good fizz and leaves a pleasing malty, syrupy finish. Special indeed - especially because I love stouts and barrel-aged beers that sop up whisky (or whatever) and woody flavors!

Pours a small frothy beige head and has a dark brown appearance with ruby highlights. Decent lace. Mild aromas of malts, vanilla and very subtle whiskey hints. Flavours of raisins, roasted malts, slight smokey notes, a bit of chocolate and a tiny bit of whiskey. Sort of like grapes in the finish. Somewhat of a syrupy mouthfeel, light creaminess. Slick oily sensation on the palate. This one's pretty good and quite easy going down.

Nearly opaque dark brown with a fine tan cap. Aromas of Scottish ale and Irish whiskey, peat and sweet. The mellow whiskey flavor is beautiful, balanced and blended. Light bitter char and sour smoke, dark fruit, a hint of pepper mellowed as if with vanilla. Slick but sticky, soft carbonation, warming, nice body.

330ml bottle form where and when I don't know, best before March 2013 on the box. Best thing here was the appearance, opaque black pour under a creamy tan head. Aroma mostly malt and alcohol, i.e., the Irish whiskey. Maybe a hint of coffee and dark chocolate. Mouthfeel average at best. Flavour mostly malt and alcohol, too sweet for me. Malt finish, cloying, more so than most I & G offerings.

Stout, definitely a Stout; thin but still a Stout. Dark brown/near black pour, thinnish, short tight light tan head, ample lacing. Nice toasted malt and chocolate aroma and flavor, some oaken vanilla, very light Whisky in the nose and palate but only after it warms - very subtle - still very drinkable and flavorful, light earthy hops, toasted sweet malts, chocolate and Whisky linger. Would definitely drink again.

Stout?. Not being a fan of Innis & Gunn I was very surprised. Roasted malt, vanilla, caramel, subdued flavour of Irish whiskey. Looks ok, medium body, great flavour. will buy again.

Appears darker than the image shown here. Kind of porterish in feel and flavor. Chocolate, roasty coffee, slighty whiskey finish. Flatter carbonation feel. Good flavor...maybe a bit too much going on for what I expected. Actually reminds me of a thinner version of Bell's Hell Hath No Fury.

Leather, peat, toffee, and dark chocolate entice the senses. Rich and oily feel within this full bodied stout. A firm bitter sweetness is sharp on the palate. Heavily roasted malts, molasses, vanilla and wood round out a great profile. Light brown head, stringy lacing and a dark brown body. Best Innis & Gunn offering to date, really enjoyed it.

A reddish tinged blackness in color. A three finger frothy textured off white head rises briefly above. When settled, no lacing. The smoke is smoky, wood and peat. The whiskey is subtle and makes this roasty-smoky ale very enjoyable. The body is thick and syrupy.
