Classic stout with a very mild barrel depth. Quarter inch light brown head with spotty lacing on a dark brown body. Medium bodied, roasty and real smooth. Semi-sweet powdered cocoa, vanilla, nuts and a touch of molasses. Hints of dark fruits and a nice woody finish pull through to round out a pleasing flavor/aroma profile.

A beer of the month club offering for March/April 2011. Pours a inky dark brown, tan head, wonderfully complex toasty flavors with just a hint of vanilla in the background to round out the flavors and aroma. Should be a local favorite for those who can get this brew.

This beer smells amazing - mostly vanilla bean and oak. The taste tracks the aroma to a tee. My major complaint with this beer is that it is pretty thin and has no head. That being said, I would buy this again in a minute. Very nice - this was my first offering from Old Dominion.

Pours black black black with a thin tan head. Aroma of whiskey. Mouthfeel is a tad thin for my liking. Flavor has vanilla, coffee, oak, chocolate. Getting better as it warms.

I;ve been to Old Dominion, but do not recall having had this one... maybe because it was the middle of summer and about a hundred degrees with 98% humidity... I digress. Picked up a 6-pk this evening in bottles. A worthy and substantial beer, but not too heavy. I enjoyed the vanilla and smokey notes throughout. Pours black with a small tan head. Worth picking some up if you have the chance.

pours a dark brown, with decent lacing .. light smoke in the nose, charcoal .. . good sweetness balanced with a kiss of smoke in the mouth .. . nice full covering of the lips .. . a decent brew, light smoke, not overdone, i guess...

Comes out of the tap a deep opaque sable with a fine-bubbled tan head. Strong aroma is smoky and coffee-ish, and slightly chocolaty. Rich flavor is like a good mocha and has a yeasty undertone, along with nutty and molasses hints. Texture is smooth and a little tingly.

O.k, from reading the other reviews, I'm convinced that I must have picked up a skunky bottle. Mine was bitter and almost vinegarish in flavor.I'm going to have to give this one another try.

Pours a dark black with a thin lacing that is caramel in color. Aroma is coffee beans, chocolate, oak. Taste oak and coffee, not bold but mellow. Little bit of malts and roasted caramels.

A brown beer with a disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of wood and prunes, while the flavor is sweet and dominated by the wood, but also some roasted notes. But the body is thin.
