Not as painful as some of Indian Wells' other beers. The aroma was certainly smoky. Odd smoky, not pleasant smoky. I thought twice before going ahead and drinking some. Happily the taste was better than the smell. Body was weak and the finish left an unpleasant filmy feeling on the roof of my mouth.

ok, i'm starting to wonder what's wrong with the "pure indian wells spring water". par for the course, this beer sucks. it's not decent, it's an abomination. the aroma literally made us all laugh. WTF?! Smelled of smoked dogfood, with a touch of malt. almost all the aromas are off, but this is among the worst. flavor not as offensive, but pretty damn boring. thin soda-like feel. horrible example of a smoked porter.

My friend picked this up because it was being specially brewed and sold at the brewery. Nice to support the little guy, especially when they try something new, but as usual, this is nothing to get too excited about. The smoked porter definitely has the strongest aroma of all the IW beers, which is not saying much. Aromas consist of smoke and chocolate...more smoky chocolate with a touch of dark cherries in the flavor. Mouthfeel was a lot like soda. No aftertaste.
