Iceni beers are brewed in Norfolk where the finest malting barley is grown. We choose to use Maris Otter barley grown on Teddy Maufe's Branthill Farm at Wells Next the Sea. The seaside climate on Teddy's farm produces malt of outstanding quality. The barley is then traditionally floormalted at Crisp Maltings in Gt. Ryburgh and brewed into fine ales here at Ickburgh. (Bottle): This is a bottle conditioned beer and may contain some sediment which is a natural deposit from the bottle fermentation process. Pour carefully to ensure a clear glass of beer.

Bottled. Hazy deep ambery brown colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is sour wooden, fruity, mild dark berries, some ashes as well as some mild liquorice. Flavour is dark berries, fruits, some tart coffeeish notes as well as some mild roasted and ashy notes. Quite mouthdrying. Could be slightly oxodized due to some of the slight sourness in it.

Another great beer from Iceni. Bottle conditioned porter. Dark almost stoutlike colour with reddish hues. Orange coffee coloured head. Roast malts dominate. Planty of fizz in my bottle. Low hop profile

Bottle conditioned, 500 ml, bought at Memorable Cheeses, Ipswich. Batch No. 040510atpp. Pours with next to none head, beer is totally flat with no carbonation whatsoever. Very dark reddish brown colour. Nice aroma of roasted malts, coffee and leather. Flavour is lightly roasted malts and lemons. Acidic and thin mouthfeel. Unremarkable aftertaste. Drinkable, but disappointing.
