Description A refreshing, German-styled wheat beer with a distinctive banana and clove aroma, it is made with barley, wheat, hops, water and hefe yeast and named in recognition of the thousands of climbers who come from around the world to climb Squamish, BC's walls, crags, cracks, slabs and boulders. Awards 2x 2010 Gold Medals in the North American Beer Awards. 2011 Silver Medal in the North American Beer Awards. Food Pairing This German-style wheat beer is a classic summer ale, and is commonly served with a wedge of lemon. This beer works well with pastas, mild cheeses, grilled vegetables and light chicken and pork dishes. Our Bottle This re-closable bottle, known as a “pot-stopper”, was widely used in Europe and North America prior to the 1950s. Our new combination cap is an innovative design that allows closure by both crown and swing caps. It can be re-used and meets our green packaging objectives.

An Imperial Hefeweizen... quite interesting. Pours a hazy golden-amber colour with a big warm cap that is bubbly and almost creamy, with decent retention and lots of sticky lace. Aromas of bananas with light wheat. Eventually, smells like rusty water with the hop they use. Average wet mouthfeel, medium-bodied, but all without the burn. The taste is milder, with the wheat and some sweetness. Hints of spices and bananas. A nice brew, but not sure a hefeweizen needs to have that much alcohol. Takes away the refreshment of this style.

The beer pours a hazed dark golden-orange with a long lasting white head. Aroma is wheat, clove, banana, and citrus. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is sweet and spicy with notes of wheat and bubblegum. -

Big crown capped swing top bottle - cloudy gold color with a 2 finger white frothy hefe cap. Aroma id gorgeous - big banana-bubble gum-clove hefe aromas. Medium bodied, smooth mouth feel for a hefewiezen. Flavour is hefeweizen on steroids....all the flavors you buy a hefe for in a big robust package...fruits, some sweetness and clove, big bisquity malts....finish is not as dry as most hefes but this is a big ale with lots of character....very drinkable and satisfying

Part of the 2013 LCBO Summer Release. Sometimes I question a brewer's sanity when everything they send you is in 1 litre bottles, and is an imperial something or other. This seems to be the modus operandi of Howe Sound. Beer is a hazed golden orange in colour, head is slightly off-white, but thick and lasts. The wheat, banana, and cloves are certainly apparent in the aroma. Maybe some alcohol as well. The flavour is very Germanic, wheat, yeast, and spices.....but there is a definite alcohol presence as well.

Didn't know where to go on the numbers here. Might have overgraded it a tad. Looks lovely in the glass, bunch of head but it disspaites quick. Nice smells of all things hefe. The really seller is the upped alcohol content, keeping the flavours in balance, and masking most of that alcohol. Here and there it starts to taste a bit warm, but to its complement. Really though, not a terribly complex brew, but someone just getting into beer would likely be extremely stoked.

Beer and pic added to BP 25 June 2010; from Firefly. Pouring from the one litre swingtop bottle, I received a rocky white head over a clear dark orange body. No lacing to speak of, but the aroma did have a citrusy tang to it. Flavour was a delightful melange of clove, banana and coriander. Solid mouth. This is one good hefe.
