This is a very nice IPA. Nice citrusy hops on the nose. A very rich (by IPA standards) maltiness backs up the assertive, but not harsh, bitterness. Pretty tasty. Carries its weight well.

Ample bitterness but too much malt and booze for my tastes. More bArleywine like than iipa, except for the very very strong bitter aftertaste. Lacking the florals or citrus or pine that a good ipa has to have. I don't mind balance, but this was too heavy. Tasted and smells like an older ipa, but it was just released to the area...

You can hear the mouthfeel as you pour. Dark amber colour pour with a huge head that sticks and leaves loads of lacing. Malt presence accompanies the 168 ibu and balances out well. Strong pine flavour. Good, different. Bordering barleywine territory.

Good beer from hoppin frog, not as good as the imp stouts but very solid. A little over clouded, but otherwise classic orange with thick head. Big citrus and little resin nose. Flavor is a bit sweet but still good, enough strong hop flavor to keep it fairly in line.

Bottle from Centerville Carryout in OH. Amber pour with lots of sediment and floaties, thus the poor appearance score. Aromas of heavy citrus and pineapple hops, some pine, malts. Taste is upfront big bitter - pine, apricots, pineapples - offset by almost syrupy sweet and heavy malts. Dry finish. Big beer, will revisit a fresher bottle. Still love me some Hoppin' Frog.

22oz bottle. Pours a hazy amber tea color with a medium creamy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is bready sugary caramel malts, and fruity piney, resiney, hops.
The flavor is sweet sugary fruity caramel malts followed by a big resiney piney bitterness that lingers in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with slightly sharp carbonation.
Overall, a very nice DIPA. It's not at all balanced, but is a nice hop bomb. -

Strong aroma is richly hoppy and evergreen with a firm undertone of grapefruit. It pours a beautiful clear copper with a thick, fine-bubbled, fairly persistent head. Richly hoppy flavor has a hint of grapefruit and is only a teensy bit bitter - in fact, there is a whisper of honey sweetness. Texture is lively and fizzy, fairly dancing in the mouth and leaving the lips a-tingle. A must for IPA lovers.

Thanks to LambTaco from Reddit. Very good, super hoppy DIPA. My only criticism of this beer is that there is so much hop bitterness that it loses a bit of the more delicate hop flavors when you drink it. These more delicate notes are present, so it’s not just a bitter hop bomb, but they’re a bit overpowered, particularly in the finish. The hop aroma is citric and floral with neither note really dominating. It’s a very strong aroma. There’s a little bit of paint thinner astringency and rubbing alcohol harshness around the edges. The flavor is very bitter and, I think, dry. It’s hard to taste anything but the hops and since I can’t appreciate any malt sweetness, I’m assuming its dry. The beer is mildly difficult to drink but in a good way - well, good if you love hops, but if you don’t love hops, you’re drinking the wrong beer. The beer is darker than it really needs to be, not like you can really taste the crystal malt Although MM utilizes different hop strains, it reminds me of a lesser known beer, Iron Springs Casey Jones, another completely over-the-top hop bomb. Good stuff.

Bottled (thanks omhper!). Hazy reddish amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is fruits and some sweet wooden hops along with caramel and a bunch of grassy and hayish dryness. Flavour is sweet malts, nectar, wood and some herbal notes has well. Fruity and bittery grassy finish. Mouthdrying. Wellbalanced and rather nice DIPA for once.

Botttle, as Hoppin’ Frog Mean Manalishi Double I.P.A., ABV 8.2%, at RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg. Deep orange to amber colour, hazy. Big off-white head with an orangey hue. Intense sickly sweetish aroma of stale and caramellized orange marmalade and loads of American hops, not very pleasant. Intense flavour of American hops, partly balanced by a substantial sweetness. The flavour is better than the aroma, but this is still not my favourite beer.

Bottle from Knightly Spirits. Grapefruit and pine in the nose with some resin notes as well. Pours an amber-orange color with a thick khaki head with pretty good retention. Nice heavy sticky lacing. The flavor shows more grapefruit and pine along with orange peel and a dash of lemon. The malts are light caramel but are very much secondary to the hops. Just a light tropical fruit sweetness with maybe a little honey but it’s far more dry and bitter than sweet. This is good. It’s not the biggest IIPA I’ve had by a long shot but I like how the hops dominate this one with the malts just along for support. Still, it’s too expensive and there are quite a few other high quality IIPA’s around for literally half the price.
