Edward (1917-2002) is our grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his five children. In his honor, this American Pale Ale is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Edward’s well. It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and dry hopped. Aromatic and flowery, with impressions of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Edward. 13.5ºP, 85 ibus, 5.2% abv. Pale and Caramel malt; Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, and Warrior hops; House Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

On tap at The Archives, Burlington, VT. Pours a fair size frothy white, has a slightly hazy orangey appearance. Patchy sticky lacing. Lively carbonation. Aromas of floral and citrus hops, some yeasty notes as well as pine. Flavours are citrusy, oranges, yeast, quite juicy for an APA. Mild bitterness. A little bit of a dry mouthfeel. Good stuff!

Enjoyed on tap at the brewery on my first visit. Cloudy golden-orange colour with a creamy white cap that stays well. Citrus aroma of oranges and light tropical notes. Citrus taste of orange and grapefruit juices with a soft bitterness and dryness in finish. Quite nicely balanced citrusy beer.

Draft pour into a goblet - yellow/orange with a sticky white head that laces the glass beautifully. Aromas range from citrus/grapefruit to bread and earth tones. Mouthfeel is wonderfully carbonated and pleasant, a real easy to drink APA. The taste is awesome - pine/citrus combine with a solid backbone that cuts the hops and makes this one SO easy to quaff. Hill Farmstead creates wonderful things - and this is an APA I soon won't forget. Think Alpha King...this one is right there.
