Pours with a deep golden body topped by a medium thick head with some lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet yet sour with notes of lemon grass and spice. The flavor is slightly sweet and sour with a note of lemon to start then turns bitter and peppery. Medium bodied and slightly dry.

This was quite interesting. Had this at Kp’s this weekend. Don’t know who brought it. INteresting idea for the style. The aroma was more faint than the other saison de la soeur styles. The flavor brought out a whop of corriander, orange zest, lemonpepper, and a touch of hops. Not overdone which was nice. Balanced well. yeasty and malty flavors round this one out. Not as much fruity flavors or funk as i’m used to with my saisons. points for being different.

07.16.05 Tap at BCTC. Well, I was hoping to get a whole 750ml of this to rate, but that doesn’t look too promising, so...
Dark and hazy amber pour with fluffy white foam of loose bubbles. Aroma is yeasty and bready with plenty of resinous, earthy, and peppery hops. Dried flowers sneak in. Citrus flavors dance in and out of the scene amidst a mess of grassy and spicy flavors. Bitter to finish, but not assertive. Good all around, but not as bold as I’d hoped it would be.

This stuff is coming along great. Hops are coming together with big and sharp grassy notes and some slick but chewy cascade. Funk is developing. Just bought a few more to sock away.

This was definitely the best of the three Heavyweight Saisons that I tried. This had that same noble tingle hoppiness that I like in Hommel Bier. Cloudy amber with a good head. Strong, tingly noble hops, but this wouldn’t really be considered hoppy in an American style. Straw, dry malt followed by an assertive, but balanced bitterness.

This one is probably my favorite of the series and a very different take on the style. A cloudy yellow appearance with a moderate head. A peachy herbal aroma (yes I just said peachy). The flavor has a yeasty presence with a moderate bitter flavor. A lot of citrus mainly grapefruit and herbal notes. A saison for someone who loves APAs.

Poured a hazy amber color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus fruits, butterscotch and caramel malts, and some hops as well. Tons of caramel malts, wood, yeast, and a bitter hoppy finish. Poured a hazy amber color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Lemony and grassy taste comes through near the end, while the beer is at room temperature. One of the maltiest saisons I have ever had, this is not my favorite from this years OTOP project.
