This could go either way. Either you like pumpkin ales or you don't. Most are misses for me, but this is a close call. The basis of this ale is pretty solid, just a little too sweet and overwhelming on the pumpkin. Not super loaded with nutmeg and allspice, which I like. I believe this growler fill was 10%, so definitely meant for sipping and sharing. If you prefer this style, it is worth the try.

From Premier Gourmet (Buffalo) in a bomber. Orange body with a slight haze. Nice aroma, pumpkin and cinnamon, and so was the flavour along with some obvious alcohol. Medium mouthfeel.

A bold amber colored beer with a big foamy textured, off white head rising robustly above. It has good hang time. Settles eventually into a thick ringley and dusting of film. Big cinnamon and cloves presence. The sweetness of the malt is light in the tasting. Medium bodied and smooth. Just like the founding fathers would have made this historical ale.

Malty aroma has a firm overtone of pumpkin and cinnamon - very October indeed. It pours a slightly hazy coppery amber with a thin pale pumpkin-orange head, but the condition of the head may be an artifact of the pour. Lip-smacking malty flavor has firm tones of pumpkin and cinnamon with hints of cloves and fruit and a bit of an alcohol nip. Texture has above average body and is smooth with a subtle fizz, leaving an edgy, malty, pumpkin finish. Perfect for this time of year!

Solid pumpkin and spice presence contained within a light orange, amber, brown body with a fizzy head and sporadic lacing. Medium to thin in body with a sweet finish. Not as complex as some of the greats, but a decent enough representation of pumpkin beer.

Oct. 2009 - If this beer were a cookie or maybe coffee, it would be good. Nutmeg....lots of nutmeg. Not all that good, even for the style (which I don't particularly like anyway).

Aroma is very effervescent with tons of nutmeg, pumpkin, and cloves coming through as well as some slight cinnamon and bready malt. Appearance is a deep, reddish-orange in color with a full sized head on top that is light-tan in color and diminishes to a creamy, light lacing that adheres to the glass. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and very complex as well as balanced nicely with a pallette that is a tad dry-like as well as a bit thin. Flavor is of tons of spice like cinnamon, nutmeg, and strong pumpkin pie with an aftertaste that is bready with some peppery clove and a finish that is wet-like and tasty and perfect for Fall weather for sure. Overall, a fine example of a spiced ale with only a hint of alcohol coming through but may be a tad cloying but, nonetheless, recommended...

this one was intruiging...an imperial pumpkin. maybe it would have the body and backbone sorely lacking from too many of the pumpkin ales out there. it smelled similar, but stronger, the abv making it's presence known. the flavor also had a creamy aspect to it...like pumpkin pie a la mode...i imagine similar to Pumking based on it's rep. It was quite good, and lingered, with a big body and creamy feel to back it up. good stuff.
