Pours out 100% black with a massive foamy lingering tan head. The aroma is of molasses and dark fruits. The mouthfeel is thick like cement. The taste is not overly complex but extremely balanced. Very great value for the price. ( gets more flavorful as it warms up).

Pours black with small, dense head. Light coffee and vanilla notes set the stage. The flavor is musky, earthy, quite dry, enjoyable. A thinnish full body with moderate carbonation; would be an easy stout to drink 2-3. I would never have guessed it imperial in a blind tasting, which i consider both a complement and a criticism. Still, liked it, tasty, no question. Mwiscount sent me this tasty bottle. Thank you ma'am!

I had this beer at a party. This beer was a good imperial stout. MY major complaints are that it was a tad on the thin side for me and tasted at tad too much like soy sauce. It was a good attempt by a great B'more microbrewery.

Another in the great - thus far - line up from Heavy Seas/Clipper City... pours deep ruby/red/brown to damn near black with a thin tan head. Aroma of choclate, caramel, toffee... awesome. Medium to full-bodied... a meal actually with flavors to match aromas. Veeeeery nice, indeed.

Very dark brown/ruby color with some lighter ruby highlights showing through and around the sides and bottom. A very nice, thick, tan head that was semi-creamy with a mixture of small and larger bubbles. The head had nice retention with an aggressive pour plus average lacing. A nice character of dark chocolate in the smell. Coffee is there, but it doesn't seem to be as robust as the chocolate. Some dark fruit, such as raisin and plum are there, but seem to be settled in the backgound. Decent complexity with this aroma. The coffee and chocolate seem to be more well balanced in the flavor. The dark fruit pulls through a bit more also. As the beer warms, however the chocolate starts to really shine and becomes more dominant. The alcohol is not even detectable. Medium to full mouthfeel. Smooth and mostly creamy. Leaves an adequate amount on the palate. Decent. I like this brew. Worth a try in my opinion. Perfect for the bitter cold. This is not fancy or exotic, but just a very solid, well made, easy drinking beer. One that I would happily pick up or not deny if it was offered.

Color is a rich, deep brown with a thick head. Aroma is decidedly stouty with a hint of roast coffee. The excellent, velvety stout flavor has strong hints of both coffee and chocolate; though it is strong, it is not overwhelming but pleasant and enjoyable. This thick and mouth-filling stout should please any fan of dark beers.

Thanks to kinger for this tasty treat. Pours thin black with a medium head and little lacing. Nice soft toasted malts aroma with some chocolate, a hint of coffee, molasses. Taste is roasted chocolate malts, some molasses, smooth finish. Thanks to Cory.

Even though this is an IPS, it doesn't have that super-strong alcohol feel to it like a 9-10% does. Allows the chocolate malt and coffee flavors to stand out a bit more. My favorite stouts (flavor-wise) seem to be in this 7-8% range. The flavor is also a little roasty and/or smokey. Pours a medium thick black color. Still a heavy beer, but not super super heavy. All of these IPSs are starting to blend in my memory, so this doesn't really stand out amongst them all, but still a quality overall brew. Reminds me of North Coast's Old Rasputin, with more coffee and not as strong.

This Impy stout had all things that were expected, flat head, mild aroma , some alcohol and coffee notes.It was dark enough,overall an easy drinking stout.I shall recomend this one for a try.

This imperial stout was not the greatest in my opinion. A little watered down and too thin for the style. That being said, it is very drinkable. It's not a bad beer, there are just many other imperial stouts that are way better,IMO. Aroma is pretty good. Coffee, molasses, Carmel, Chocolate are there. Jet-black appearance, good head that disappears to a little ring. Flavor is like the aroma, but a little flat and undemanding. I ended up mixing this with a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and it was very nice after that. Give it a try.
