About:
Long time beer drinker, frustrated with the direction that American beers have taken over the years. All the good lagers are gone replaced with high water content beers with no taste. I prefer heavy, creamy beers with body.

I heard rave revues for this beer. Truthfully, I was exTREMELY disappointed! The beer looked beautiful with a dark rich color with a beautiful pillowy head. In fact, the beer exploded when it hit the glass...it took me almost ten minutes to finish the pour. I thought, "Wow! This is going to be delightful!" The mouthfeel was very creamy, but thats where it all ended. It was so sickly sweet, that I couldnt taste anything besides stong malts that bordered on molasses. Sorry guys, I thought I got ripped being that I paid $6 for a twelve ouncer!

This one was a pretty fair Imperial Stout. I looked at some of the other reviews and I think that most have forgotten that beers with a fairly high alcohol content always seem a bit on the thin side. Its to be expected. This had a beautiful dark barky color with good lacing yet a slight head. It had a very thick, syrupy, smokey taste with lots of chocolates and coffee. It even had hints of black currants with a bit of hoppiness to finish off the taste.

I coulnt believe that this was a Unibroue beer! This has to be one of the worst beers Ive had! Flat with no head, lacing OR carbonation. I could taste lots of fruits that due to the fact that there wasnt any carbonation, made this sickly sweet. It was more like a wine than a beer, and a BAD wine at that! They really struck out with this one. Somebody please tell me what they were trying to accomplish with this one!

This is definitely in my Top 10! What a great balance! This beer was wonderful to look at after pouring. Dark roasty color which matched the taste. Good lacing with a moderate head which depended on whether you pour it straight in or down the sides. Good mouthfeel with just the right amount of carbonation. Smokey with a strong prescence of chocolat without being overly sweet, nice finish with just the right balance of hops. This is one that has to be sipped and savored! About the best Scottish Ale one can buy!

I couldnt see how this was an ESB. It was too smooth. Excellent dark ruby in color with excellent lacing and a fairly good head. Lots of malt and fruit with a nice, smooth finish. When I bought it I took it for a Scottish Ale and it seemed that. Very heavy, couldnt drink more than the one I had. An outstanding beer! Now I have to go look for more from Broughton Brewery.
