Located at our legendary St. James’s Gate brewery, The Open Gateway Brewery allows our best brewers to experiment with recipes old and new. This double-hopped lager is the next chapter in that project. It’s decidedly modern and totally different. With more ingredients comes more character. 100% Irish-grown malted barley. The distinctive Guinness yeast. A mixture of Australian and American hops runs as an undercurrent through this incredibly deep beer, which is fresh at the surface and complex at the bottom. Our brewers set out to create something that would stimulate your palate and senses alike. From first sip to the lingering finish, this beer is surprising.

Pours a clean light golden-amber colour with a creamy warm cap, good retention and some thick lacing. Loads of diacetyl in the aromas which makes me stomach churn. Sweet, rich butterscotch. The taste has this, but some hops do make this a little more pleasurable. Light dryness for mouthfeel. Yeah, would not have this again. Guinness Blonde American Lager was better.

The beer pours a translucent medium gold colour with a 1” snow white bubbly head which recedes to a white ring after a few minutes. The aroma is floral hops, bread, and some light citrus notes. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is grainy malt, and fruity hops with notes of both citrus and tropical fruits. A decent crisp beer.
