Yeah, I'd say this is slightly better than the original premium lager, but not much. Sort of like the difference between Heineken and Heineken Dark. If you prefer medium dark ambers over typical lagers, then you'll probably prefer this as well. Has more of a caramel, sweet malty taste...not as skunky as the original. An average overall beer, nothing more.

Far superior in aroma and taste to the original. Not as skunky, but still a hint. Likewise, the stopper cap bottles are nice, but the beer in that bottle is still a novelty to me. Not something I'd drink routinely.

The best of all Grolsch beers brewed. You can drink a lot and not get tired of drinking it. The overall taste is very smooth and consistent. I had a barbeque yesterday, had a six pack and can't even tell I was drinking.

I’ll give you a general, ‘at least an average amber ale. Pours with light brown body. Not much of a head. Yeah it is smooth to the mouth but not very complex in flavor. Hop influence is a bittering one.

Single clear bottle, near the "best by" date. Aroma is grassy with a hint of caramel. Light copper color, sparkling head, spotty lacing, and heavily carbonated. Light mouth feel, crisp with an empty finish. Grainy/grassy flavors with a smoky - peaty aftertaste. Mild caramel along with a bitter kick. Better than I anticipated.

Not the best amber ale. I didn't expect much. Pours a golden nut brown, has a weak head and no lacing. very smooth to the mouth. the flaver is full but not as complex as it should be. A slight sweat taste followed by a little bitterness.

I was expecting this to suck eggs. I am glad it did not. The head was decent with a nice ring of lace left sitting on top of the amber liquid. Not much detected on the nose except for some sweet malt like aromas. The same holds true for the flavors. Nice mild nutty quality, with low hop character and a nice maltiness. Not bad. Not my favorite, either, but still not bad.

08.15.04 12oz bottle. The pour is a nutty, dark, clear brown, but the head is fizzy and thin and fake looking. Aromas are malty and a touch on the salty-dough side. The body is thin and watery. Malty up front with nice sweetness, but the flavor turns to soggy cardboard mid-way through and stays that way to the end. Unfortunate aftertaste has some plastic notes that evolve with the back-of-the-throat bitterness. In many ways this beer hits the mark for me, only to be dashed by unpleasantries.

This is more of a partial, fractional offering. I taste the water and amber flavour, but where's the beer? A very limited beer, lacking many things to be any better than average. Still enjoyable but nothing especial about this one. Then again what did I expect from Grolsch?

Pours a very crystal clear light brown ale, with orange hints and a nice sized creamy/rocky off white head. The aroma is strange and subdued like a sickly lager. The taste also is rather odd, like regular grolsch with some malts added..the bitterness shows at the end, but as this goes on its not quite the disaster I thought ar first..ok. The mouthfeel seem to be the best aspect of this beer, its rather lush and smooth and with a nice hoppy bitter after taste. A drinkable brew no doubt..and it was ok IMO, but not one i would reach for with better beers available
