Chuck came up with a new method to make a Double IPA by performing a double brew to make a single beer. First there is a single infusion mash and subsequent boil at 65 IBU with Columbus and Centennial hops. Then a second duplicate mash using the 65 IBU wort instead of water and a second 65 IBU boil using the same hop schedule. The result is a higher gravity beer with kettle caramelizing in place of crystal malts and an elevated hop flavor and bitterness that might not be achieved with the same amount of ingredients in a single brew. Hop Heads, this beer is for you!

Orange color with a white head. Aroma contains orange, grapefruit, and lemons. Perfume as well. The flavor is bitter and malty. You get caramel as well as the citrus. Overall a nice well balanced iipa.

Good stuff but not a palate wrecker. Slithers down the throat with all the expected flavours of a West Coast IPA. Nicely balanced, which I didn’t expect but has a very long lasting bitter aftertaste. Could go for another just to get my four day weekend rolling but, none left.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy copper orange with a medium pillowy white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.
The aroma is a little subdued - piney, resiny, dank hops with some sweet caramel malt and a little melon.
The flavor is a little caramel malt and fruit with a ton of resiny, piney, very bitter hops that linger in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, a monster hop bomb. Tons of bitterness, but not a lot of good hop flavors. -

Hearty aroma is quite hoppy, with undertones of Mandarin orange and malt. Pours a clear dark amber with a very thick and rather persistent with a pale golden-wheat head. Robustly hoppy taste has more resin than wood/hay, little bitterness, a hint of honey sweetness, a snippet of bready malt. Smooth, firm texture has plenty of fizz and a nice woody hop and somewhat fruity finish. Maybe not a palate wrecker, but certainly a palate pleaser!

My third choice and wrapped up the day at World of Beer. An orange colored beer with a two finger, sudsy textured, off white rusing above. There's some hang time. A light citrus nose. Sweet, grapefruit hoppiness in the tasting. Light and crisp.

Solid beer, but kind of pricey. More about the hops here...sweet start but VERY bitter end. Balanced well with a smooth mouthfeel. Nice resemblance of a West Coast IPA/DIPA. Not sure that I would want to have the full 4-pack of this, but the single sample was well worth it. Just as happy with a Lags or Stone though for less cost.

From Central City, in a bomber. Clear amber/orange pour under a big, off-white head. Lacing appeared with this one. Plesaant, fresh bouquet of hops, pine, and citrus. Flavour had lots of pine and hop, with grapefruit notes at the finish. Buttery mouthfeel. Palate by no means wrecked but certainly pleased. A superior beer.

Yeah Baby! Sent to me from Stoutlover. Big ass amber orange pour, tall head, good lacing. BIG hopped aroma, grapefruit, peaches, slight pine, then more hops, then the malts kick in. taste is hugely bitter upfront then fruity and sweet and wonderful. THIS is a big IPA... and as advertised it was my last beer of the evening as my palate was wrecked. Thank you Garrett for this jewel - hopefully this beer will be sent to Tennessee along with everything else Green Flash has here already. Loving this brewery more and more...

Tap @ the downtown Saucer .. . pours a deep caramel .. amazing foam, lacing too .. . very balanced for an ipa .. . bee sting honey, caramel, and yaaarp .. . a good beverage but hardly a palate wrecker .. . . You're so wise. You're like a miniature Buddha, covered in hair.

Really nice beer, but i was expecting a bit more from something called "Palate Wrecker". Good aromas of sweet oranges, pine, some floral notes, rich caramel malts. Body is a cloudy orange/ amber with a thin head. Flavor starts with loads of grapefruit and pine, the malts give it some nice balance. Overall another winner from Green Flash.
