Bottled@Monks Café, Stockholm. Hazy deep orange colour, mediumsized big slightly off-white foamy head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is sweet toffee, wheat, mild spices as well as banana and some mild yeastyness. Flavour is rather similar along with some alcoholic sweetness. Mild nuttyness as well.

Nov 24, 2009 Thanks to Lou (bluesandbarbq) who sent me this, bottle 4 of our 4 for 4 swap. I’m always down with trying a new Great Lakes product, so this was easy to enjoy. The beer pours out a golden orange color, slightly cloudy with a 2" off-white frothy head. Lots of fruitiness in the aroma, toasted malts, bananas, cloves and caramel all meld together incredibly well. Flavor has some nice sweetness to it with and orange and banana 1-2 punch. Some light clove notes, a subtle doughy character that finishes with a touch of honey. Really nice. Just wish it were available in California.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a Weizen glass. Appearance: The body has a deep old copper/amber color. It is very hazy and it produces a small creamy, light tan colored head on top. The head slowly fades down to a thin ring of foam that makes a little slice lacing on the glass. Smell: Its aroma has big full nose of fruity and bready yeast with notes of banana, clove, toffee and fruited liquor. Taste/Palate: To start with this beer has a nice mellow warmth throughout from its 8%abv. It has a big fruity yeast character and full bready malt with plenty of sweetness up front. It has notes of ripe banana, golden raison, sour cherry and just a hint of toffee, clove and leafy hops. The hops add some light bitterness to the back end. The finish is bone dry and the palate is very smooth with a solid medium to full body. Notes: This was a very enjoyable Weizenbock. Its alcohol was very noticeable at first but mellows as you drink and as it warms.

Intense Weizen Bock, I’m glad to see Great Lakes bottle this grand wheat. The aroma is a friendly assault of banana, brown sugar and tons of clove. The scent permeates the air. Brownish copper color with an amber tint. Off white head that lasts for the duration and solid lacing around the glass. Medium bodied and exceptionally smooth with a creamy, boozy sweetness. Dry, crisp wheat and some biscuit malt flavor. Plenty of banana and clove with notes of raisin, pear and perhaps a touch of pumpkin. This beer is a great dark, strong wheat with plenty of character.

Pours out in a hazy reddish amber colour with a small off-white head. Rich aroma of yeast, banana, almonds, nuts, red berries and alcohol. Nearly full-bodied with notes of over-riped banana, burnt caramel, raspberries, caramel, anise and alcohol. Rather clean mouthfeel. Warming finish of yeast, caramel, cloves pepper and alcohol.

Pours a dark clear amber/ruby tea brown with little head or lacing. Big ripe bananas and spices - cloves, a bit of coriander, in the aroma. Taste is rich with a sweet banana and ripe fruitiness with sweet malts then a nice touch of pepper and spices. A nice beer from a very good brewery.
