As an American style porter, HP offers up the best of a traditional porter with a flash of unique bittering hops to complement the roasted malts. Chocolate, espresso, a hint of smoke and a touch of magic area all right there in the aroma and in the flavour. Medium bodied with a creamy, silky mouthfeel, and a soft chocolatey finish, HP is wizardly in all facets.

Dark brown, with a brown head. Unfortunately it only looked good for a short time. Sweet caramel, vanilla and roast malt aroma. Standard porter mouthfeel. Nice flavour. Strong on the vanilla, chocolate, some fruits and smoke. Maybe have to have a trip to the brewery to have this on draught, if thats an option.

On tap at the Arrow and Loon in Ottawa. Has a thick brownish foamy head and a dark brown appearance. Very thick dirty lacing. Aromas of chocolate, mocha and dark roasted malts. Flavours are also very much chocolate influenced but with notes of vanilla, coffee and hints of caramel sweetness and resin hops. Has a mild warming sensation. Full bodied mouthfeel and some slickness. Nice bitterness and quite smooth on the palate. Another really good GLB brew and probably the first i've enjoyed on tap and not bottled. :)

On tap @Imbibe - deep lushious brown-black ale with a frothy 2 finger cap. Aroma is pungent roasty aromas over light sweetness with some grassiness. Sturdy body, very smooth and viscous. Flavor is coffee-cocoa maltiness with enough bittering to ballance light sweetness vanishes in the long wet bittering finish, nice roasty snap at the end. A world class porter every bit as good if not better than Meantime. Well done GLB!

The beer poured a coca-cola colour with a creamy tan head that lasted. The aroma was weak roasted malt, smoke, molasses, and coffee. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was slightly sweet malt, some dark fruit, smoked wood, and coffee. A very good porter.
