A big Hazelnut Brown Ale with a warm, nutty, toffee-like flavor. A wonderful winter warmer to enjoy with friends during the holiday seasons. A wildly big strong ale we call the Big Shot.

A deep amber colored beer with a small, three fingered frothy textured light tan head rising above. There's some hang time on the head. A moderately robust ringlet is left. Light chocolate notes in the nose. I get a lot of caramel and chocolate in the tasting. Bold bodied and creamy.

It pours a dark-copper and burnt-orange with a thick light-tan head and some lacing climbs up the glass. A robust aroma of caramel malts, tea leaves, mild hops, citrus, bread and biscuits, light coffee, bitterness, and light spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth and somewhat rich. Flavors of caramel malts, hops, light coffee and tea, orange and citrus, bread and biscuits, bitterness and rust, and spices. Very good!

Pours a dark coppery amber with a decent, if not too thick, light beige head. Aroma is not strong but still appealing, mainly malty with hints of spice and miso. Flavor is malty and woody with a spicy undertone, OK if not spectacular. Texture is fairly smooth, fizzy and tingly.

Like many other browns I've had, this isn't terribly special. Pour is brown (duh!) with a small tan head. Can detect roasted malts, chocolate, some coffee and maple in the aroma. Taste is okay, malty with just hints of chocolate and caramel. Not bad but kinda forgettable.

Pours a dark partially cloudy reddish brown colour. Head is full and frothy, tan. Aroma is very pleasent, nutty, and maple syrup. Taste is interesting, plenty of sweet nuttiness, but i also taste some green beans, maybe a little toffee or almond also. Either way an incredibly filling brew.

Pours a deep mahagony color with small, tight head. The aroma is earthy, a little musty, with coffee topnotes. The flavor characteristics include nutty, toffeelike, vegetal. The general sweetness turns bitter-clean in the finish. Medium bodied and gently carbonated. A decent ale, but not particularly impressive for a special edition beer.

Sampled from bottle. Pours brilliant ruby-brown with a thin off-white head. Its aroma is bold and bread-like. Slightly sweet, nutty and more biscuit malt goodness. Medium-full body and light carbonation. Very nice brown ale.

On tap at Half Moon, Kennett. The pour was brown, some orangey hues, ok initial head, but it subsided and only gave moderate lacing. The aroma was light chocolate, some roast, piney hop aromas. The flavor was chocolate, caramel, toffee, light toasty notes, some woodsiness. The mouthfeel was moderate for the style, a little syrupy twist, but not really "full" feeling. An ok brew, but one I wouldn't care if I had never had it.

A brown appearance with a moderate beige head. The aroma is rather faint with hints of caramel, nutmeg, and brown sugar. The flavor contains quite a bit of nutmeg and also some chocolate, caramel, and toffee. The palate is a little thin. Some sourness exists in the aftertaste. Overall I thought this was a pretty good brown ale.

From a bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with a thin off-white/tan head. Aroma is malty and fruity with a coffee/chocolate undertone. Malty flavor with a slight fruit undertone along with coffee. Surprising bitter aftertaste. An pretty good beer overall.
