Introducing OktoberFish tm Lager. It's our first new beer in a bit and it's also our first lager: It's OktoberFish! Not your ordinary Octoberfest beer, the O'Fish has a nice reddish color and a savory malt profile from the German malts. It also has a nice hop snap at the end. OktoberFish is available only on draft and only for a short time so ask for it at your local pub.

Pours a dark golden color. Smell is mild, some malts. Taste is also mild, well carbonated, some malts are present. Feels light in the mouth and overall is a mediocre beer.

12oz bottle with label stating German Style Ale printed on it pours clear gold with near white head. The aroma offers up esters and apple and a bit of cherry hard candy covered over by yeasty spices. The taste is insanely thin and somewhat on the tart side with a mix of red apples and tart green apples followed by, despite what the label states, yeasty lager like notes and muted possibly floral hops. Meh. (holy . . . there’s an oaked iced version of this!!)

Definitely not an altbier...LOL! Was one of the better domestic oktoberfest's of this season. Liked Sammy Adams as my choice last year, but this year's version seemed a bit off. This seems like last year's version that Sammy brewed. Solid caramel malt and good balance. Oktoberfested out this year, but will probably try this again next season.

altbier? wouldn't this be a marzen? pretty spot on for the octo style. rich malts, toasted, with just a touch of hops for balance. even though it's the weakest of the 3 we just had, still average.

A copper colored beer starts this one out right. The head, foamy and white is not as big, though as i'd hope. It settles into a thin ringlet. The nose is barely detectable. Some grassiness. That grassinessis most dominate in the tasting. Light and effervescent. Drinkable, but Flying Fish could do better.

09.03.04 12oz bottle. Very handsome pour - dark teakwood brown with red and gold highlights. The head is thick and white and, while fading, leaves a smattering of lace. Aromas are toasty malts, salty, bready - almost alt-ish. The palate is light to medium bodied, sticky with malts; slight tart quality shows up front. Hops on finish distinguish this beer from alt, to me, but not necessarily as an oktoberfest. Nevertheless, this is a great East Coast take on a traditional German style.

Pours with a deep amber body topped by a thin to medium thick head with some lacing. It’s slightly sweet yet bitter and peppery. Not all that good. meidum bodied, smooth and dry.

Okay...it wasn't skunky, but something is just not right. The beer looked beautiful. Okay, now that I got that out of the way...the beer smelled awful...like dirty old sweatsocks. eaglefan538 said it didn't taste as bad as it smelled, but he lied. It tasted exactly like it smelled...like old sweaty socks. Nasty.

Poured a light amber-brownish-reddish with a small head that didn't lace well. The aroma was just off. No idea how to describe it, other than the fact that it was just off. The flavor was caramel, malty, some sort of odd spicing and a tad nutty. Just not a good combination. Bad stuff.

Bottle. Orange amber in color with a big white head. Malty and hoppy flavor. Nutty flavors. Smooth tasting. Enjoyable. Very easy drinking.
