Cloudy yellow, white foamy head. Mouthfeel almost thick, and not at all refreshing. Flavors are highly acidic and muddled, musty fruit; apples, pears, bananas. Low carbonation; finishes sour and bland. I'd rather have my saisons fresh, lively and invigorating.

Sampled from bottle. Pours cloudy, dark gold with a thin white head and notable lacing. Its aroma is spicy with clove and pepper, with strong citrus. Balanced, with belgian yeast phenols/esters (much like a tripel) dominate. Medium-boded and moderately high carbonation. Well-done.

Pours a cloudy, thick-looking gold with airy, fading head. Sour graininess dominates the aroma with lots of citrus topnotes. The flavor is fruity, but sour, uncomplicated, uninteresting. Citrus is the only ascertainable characteristic I can find. Medium bodied and undercarbonated.

This tastey beer pours a cloudy orangeish-golden colour with a thin head. Sweet aroma with lots of spice, orange, cherries, and apple cider flavors. Overall, very pleasent, palate satisfying brew. even though its brewed in Cal, the picture reminds me of the northeast. :)

My first Saison. Very nice. Rich flavor. After taste is a little acidic tasting but still nice. For Farmhouse this is a nice beer of theirs but I would recommend a different type.

A lemon and corn aroma. I dont want corn aromas in my saison por favor. The flavor is really sweet and not complex in the least. Some lemons, corn, hay, and bananas. It was rather thin also. This just wasnt good.

Poured a filtered golden color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of spices, earthy yeast, orange peel, light citrus fruits, and some clove as well. Taste of more citrus and orange peel, was tart, with some candy sugar, and alcohol was well covered. No noticeable flaws here, but perhaps more spices could have been achieved by fermenting at a higher temperature?

Hmm, I dunno. I'm not nearly as opposed to this beer as others have been up to this point. A great example of a Saison? From The West Coast, or in general? Nah, not so much. But I found this 22-ozer to be a bit better than I would have assumed from Coast Range, of Gilroy CA.
Polished this off before heading down to Petco Park, to watch the Padres beat the Braves on a windy Tuesday night. And while I do admit to perhaps rusing through this beer some, still, got enough of a feel for it to warm up to me.
Struck me as more-or-less a very Pale/Golden Ale with the house yeast swapped out for something a bit more bready, estery, and perhaps dash funkier. I can relate to this idea, since this is exactly how I made the "Hers" of the "His&Hers" set of wedding beers, for me and Karen's wedding in March `04: my standard Hefe recipe, with a quick swap of yeasts.
Now, granted, it's not just the yeast that makes a Saison, and that's where this beer's weaknesses show up the most here. Rather flat and one-dimensional in the mouthfeel and the malt profile. Not complex, by any means, but, then again, that can be the mantra for virtually everything that Coast Range does, though.
But even still, this really isn't bad. I'd take this half-hearted West Coast Saison over the "authentic" Saison Voisin any day, especially for a mere $2.95/22-ozer.
Recommendable? Worth tossing <$3 for something new/different in your `fridge. YMMV.

An above average beer from Coast Range. Pour is a orange/gold color with a huge, fluffy head. Aroma is fruit, spicy, some bubble gum and orange peel in the nose. Mouthfeel was too sticky for my liking, but not bad. I could get notes of clove, citrusy hop, grains and some kind of spice I can't figure out. Overall not bad and for the price you pay it's a steal.

This saison pours an orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity and spicy, pears and some spices. A medium bodied saison. Malts are fruity and estery. Bright yeasts, spicy with lots of coriander flavors. Touches of banana and clove flavors. There is also so leather, must and barnyard. Fine carbonation with lots of small bubbles gives this beer a dry crisp finish. Smooth taste. Nice drinkable Saison. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
