Bottled. Hazy ambery brown colour, small white head. Aroma is spicy, barnyardy and also has some grains and earth in it. Flavour is spices, barnyard, yeast, mould and some fruits carrying it up. Nicely balanced and very complex.

Muddy brown colour with a an explosive white foam. Leafy, apricoty aroma with notes of lemon, yeast, forest and old grapefruit juice. Dryish and very fruity flavour of blood grape, pepper, black-currant, red berries, banana, menthol and chocolate. Long spicy finish of caramel, oranges, pepper, melon and cayenne pepper. Another funny and tasty drink from Fantome.

NorCal tasting Jan 07 - This is by far my favorite Fantome beer. The nose on this beer is just incredible, with a sour, fruity, earthy, funky nose reminiscint of a flemish sour or a lambic. Appearance is was a hazy brown rust color. Reminded me of the color of fallen leaves. Flavors meshed damned near perfectly. Notes of juicy berries, yeast, herbs, with a dry finish. Very complex overall and very, very satisfying. Get it if you can.

My first Fantôme experience, sampled at l'Autre Oeil in Aylmer, Quebec. Pours a nice creamy head which is long lasting. Sediments are found at the bottom-half of the glass. Hazy amber-beige-orange colour with foamy lacing. The nose is a mix of Belgian yeast with hints of apples. Also earthy. There is a mild bitterness to the taste, from start to finish. Fruit is found and the background seems filled with candy. The mouthfeel is dry and slightly waxy. A berry feel is left in the mouth after the swallow. Quite refreshing for a strong brew. I enjoyed this one, and hope to taste many others from this micro-brewery.

Medium brown color. Small head. Aroma is yeast, malts and a little veggie? A nice malty beer, with a definite vegetable undertone to the flavor. Yeasty and malty. Very different taste, hard to describe. Tasty and very drinkable, but not easy to put into any one category. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

dark reddish-brown colour with a nice foamy head, unusual aroma, slightly smoked salami first comes to mind, celery and a touch of exotic fruits and pepper, the body begins rather thin but the malt shows itself powerfully in the aftertaste, moderate bitterness, the finish is long, yeasty and malty, effervescent and with some herbal notes - complex, original and satisfying

Poured a hazy brownish red color with a small off white head and light lacing on the glass. Aroma of lots of citrus, spices, some orange mint, and funky yeast and barnyard. Taste was that of more citrus and limes, yeast, seemed rather astringent. At the same time, there was some roastiness present here. Though there was a creamy mouthfeel, I feel this could be just slightly more developed.
