What’s with all the new brewery stuff on the shelves lately that are so-so at best? I’m thinking this brewery and Prohibition line in particular. Pours a dark brown with a little bit of a head and some lacing. Scent is roasted dark fruits and coffee. Flavor is sour and kind of like peat on top of the caramel/coffee, but it’s weak. Both the flavor and the palate are very thin. Overall, save your money.

Not real sure how old this bottle is/was. No date stamp or marking to tell me, but I've had it for almost 2 years. With that being said, it wasn't a drainpour of a beer, but if I'm ever in Etna I know I could probably get this on tap and it'd be much better I think.

The beer pours out a deep, dark brown color (damned near black) with a khaki colored one-finger thick head. The aroma I detected immediately was dark chocolate and lots of it. Some coffee came in slowly as it warmed up as did some flowery hops. Mouthfeel was on the thinner side of things. Flavor lacked any real complexity, and what it did bring was a lot of dark chocolate and some ashy burnt malt reared it's head. It would have gotten higher marks if it were not for that undesireable ash flavor I hate. Nasty stuff. Luckily, there wasn't a ton of it in here, so it was bearable. Not the greatest beer there is, but far from the worst too.

A nice porter. Had a the tiny brewery in Etna CA. If anyone else has every been there, they would know that it is quite an accomplishment for a small brewery like Etna to put out a quality beer like this. Go visit if you are ever in the State of Jefferson.

Very dark brown color. Medium tannish head. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malt. A medium bodied porter, Malts are roasted, chocolate and coffee, touches of dark fruit and vanilla. Hops are mildly bitter. Smooth taste, soft carbonation. Nice slightly burnt and bitter finish. A nice mild porter, sort of in the English style, more than the west coast verity. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
