~ 12oz bottle, purchased in the Vienna/McLean/Tyson's Corner of VA, and sampled on a hot afternoon in San Diego, CA.

This bottle caught my eye while shopping at the Total Wine in McLean VA. Never heard of the brewery before, and the packaging was a bit over-the-top. But even still, I figured I'd give it a fair chance. Glad I did, too. This is a really nice Pale Ale...!

Hard to see this coming in at over 7%ABV, since the body and mouthfeel of this is quite clean. No heaviness, here. But, at the same time, not so easy-going as to forgetten about it's Prime Directive: deliver a balanced load of hops, in a thirst quenching and satisfying package. Thumbs on all counts, here.

Quite fresh and earthy with the hopping -- a bit more than what I would have expected, to be honest. And while I won't guess on the varities used, gotta say that there is really very little hop-harshness here.

A beer that came-and-went entirely too soon. Shame too, since I quite enjoyed it. I also brought back a "Joseph Hewes Revolutionary Ale" from this same brewery, that I hope is as appealing as this was. Recommended.

Pours a dark red color with a nice thick head. Very little aroma. Light bodied and slightly dry. Love the taste! Just enough bitterness and no aftertaste. Drank the whole glass in 10 minutes. I would love to have a case of this stuff! Give it a try if you can find it!
