Pours of fair size foamy bubbly head and has a hazy golden appearance. Dirty sticky lace. Aromas are somewhat perfumy, citrus and floral hops and even a bit of grassy notes. Flavours are mostly citrus hops, notes of yeast, piney, and a touch of grapefruit in the finish. Slight bitterness on the palate. Full bodied mouthfeel. Very good.

SAQ private import - 2013 edition (Sorachi Ace). Pours a cloudy light yellow colour with a big white head, great retention and lots of cloudy lacing. Fruity nose with mostly lemons. Belgian Ale yeast with light spices and the fresh grassy hop. The taste is an even better blend of these things. Refreshing mouthfeel with a beautiful light dryness in the finish. Duvel is already good. Now, this hop added to it just makes it better, fresh and fruity.

2013 version - Sorachi Ace! Dry hopped with the same. Damn this is good... Lemon yellow pour, with a tall sustained white head, tons of lacing, nicely carbonated. Lemons and citrus dominate the nose and flavors, in a good way lemons, some floral and honeysuckle, zesty and spicy, lightly fruity, uber refreshing and very well-hidden ABV. Drinks very light. Strongly suggest trying the 2013 version for the Sorachi Ace kick. Well worth it, will revisit.

Golden yellow (some yeast floating) with white foam head. (Not as big as regular Duvel). Aroma is pure hop, taste is pure bitter hop, aftertaste is pure hop. A straight beer, no fuzing around. (Velp 201208)

MMMMmmmmmmBeer's description is dead on. So, rather than bore you with yet another review, I'll say this about that instead: this is a great beer and if somehow you can luck into it for a decent price definitely go for it. Having said that, it is easily double the price it ought to be around here. Good beer, pricepoint stinks.

(2010 edition) Hazy straw yellow gold with a massive uncontrollable cap that reduced down to a nipple after a long while. Very nice Belgium aroma, lemon, wheat , yeast, hints of the extra hop, some astringent makes its way in also. Very dry mouth feel. Taste is yum, yeast, lemon, hops, floral, spice, all built on a nice yeasty malt. Brew goes down smooth with a mild sour finish. More lemon now. Apple showing up now towards end of glass. This be a very good brew that I’ll never purchase again do to the over the top price.

This was an interesting beer to taste. When the beer is in the bottle, you'll expect a dark beer, but when poured into the Duvel glass it reveals it darkblondish yellow colour. It's fruity, hoppy and a good experience to drink.

A nice twist to Duvel this triple hopped brew. Aromas of fruit and citrus, yeast, and spices all smelled fine, but were a little faint. Light golden yellow body with a nice thick frothy cap that left some decent lace. Flavor hadthe same attributes as the aroma with alcohol upfront then the slight hop fruitiness in the finish. Overall it's a nice offering but it's a bit expensive to warrant a second bottle.

I paid $18.00 for a 750ml bottle...........and it didn't taste a whole lot different than regular Duvel. A nice hazy golden pour with a generous white head (what's with Duvel and making caps the size of Mt. Everest in your glass?). The aroma was citrus hops, yeast, and some spices...almost a tripel aroma. The flavour was tripel as well...the yeast and hops shine through the spices and grainy malt to create an very good beer.

A careful pour into my 25cl tulip glass easily produces five fingers of head (including a full fat finger above the rim of the glass); the head is a pale, just off-white color and forms an impressive structural surface / mesa and lots of Belgian lace patterns as it slowly subsides. The beer is a nice gold color that shows a bright, yellow-gold color when held up to the light and shows a mad frenzy of carbonation. The aroma smells of lemon zest, touches of apricot, cracker-like grain, notes of black pepper, pink ginger, clove, a touch of pear, honey-like malt and a solid backdrop of tropical fruit notes that seem to have faded over time, but still have a commanding presence in the nose. I have a feeling that a lot more of the base beer comes through in the aroma now, and I definitely like that. This is far more aromatic than the regular version of Duvel; at least in volume, I like regular Duvel for its soft, yet deep complexity, but this is also really nice (plus I am a sucker for Amarillo). The beer flavor still has lots of Amarillo signature to it; up front flavors of peach, lychee and candied kumquat. The beer finishes with spicy phenolics and a spicy alcohol warming as well a nice, though soft, clean bitterness. Clove, a ginger heat and a turpene driven light palate numbing show a nice, yeast derived phenolic character towards the finish blends in quite well with the up front hop character.. The carbonation died down considerably as I was enjoying the aroma, but still has a prickly tickle to it as well as providing a bit of a carbonic bite. The body of this beer stands up quite well to the carbonation though, it definitely has a touch of heft to it, though in true form it is quite an easy beer to quaff faster than is safe. My second pour only nets me a half finger of beer, while the rest is foam. The spicy & phenolic notes seem to get a bit more prominent as I work my way through this bottle; it actually starts to get quite spicy in the finish. My third pour has me learning a bit and I end up with only a bit more head than beer in my glass.
I can't tell you how happy I am that the Amarillo character is still pretty apparent; that definitely had me a bit worried. I am sure the hop character has faded a bit, but it is still quite nice. I am not sure I have ever had a beer that is more prone to leaving structural sculptures of foam (a product of the foam positive character of hops and the high carbonation of Duvel), it is quite interesting and visually you really can't quite ask for more. It is always a good sign when I have a hard time not finishing off a 750ml bottle of strong beer by myself.
