A Marzen-style lager brewed in the German tradition. The amber color and the rich malt sweetness is a transition from light summer beers and hearty winter brews.

Pours ruby red without much head. The nose is a bit of caramel, a little bit of malt. The first taste is nice -- it's sweet and malty. The bittering finish goes off somewhere not-so-nice. It seems to be trying to capture the spirit of a Marzen, but ultimately ... it's just a darker commercial macro brew.

Not a great reintroduction to the style in 2012. I had the Pyramid first this year, and that one was nice. This wasn't a bad beer, but too sweet and one dimensional. Didn't do much for me.

has a redish orange pour, with a nice aroma of malt and caramel but with a thin quickly disappearing head. Doesn't taste anything like a typical German Octoberfest beer. It was a bit sweet for my taste. Based on the fact that it was made by Genesee I had low expectations but the beer turned out better then I expected.

Aroma is crisp and malty with a subtle tone of spice, not strong but still inviting. It pours a nice clear coppery amber with a decent pale tan head. Flavor is malty with hints of spice and - could that be pumpkin? Texture is smooth, a little tingly, a bit on the thin side but still acceptable.

It pours a burnt orange/amber/reddish color with thin tan head and some lacing. Sweet aroma of caramel malts, light hops, orange & citrus, berries, and mild spice. The mouthfeel is smooth, rich, and full-bodied. Flavors of caramel malts, light hops, citrus, some berries w/tart, and mildly spicy. Pretty tasty.

It doesn't even come close to a true German Octoberfest brew. The aroma was grassy, with minimal maltiness, the appearance was a lot lighter than I would have expected. Mouthfeel and flavor were just flat.

bought in ATX at Grapevine, i don't know why.... smells like soup can and light maple .. . pours a robust tan-orange, with low medium fizzy head .. . so far so good .. . simple stuff, light caramel in the mouth.. pretty easy to put down .. . its just how your karma came, but thanks to the vision and the 20/20 wisdom, it hit me like a south bound train... . For who makes this, they did a pretty good job, give this to a normy hey might very well seek out other marzens, simplistic but non offensive..

Pours cloudy copper with small head and decent lacing. The aroma boasts dirty notes of earth and must. The flavor is metallic with light toasted malt character. Watery, light body and undercarbonated. I got it down, but certainly not a good beer.

Sampled from bottle. This VMO pours copper-red with a lasting white head. Its aroma is bold and malty. Clean, balanced flavor. Light peppery hops in the flavor addition. Right on for the style, just a little plain. Some minerals peek through that give it a metallic flavor.

This beer poured with a medium amber colored body topped off by a thin off white head that left light lace down the sides of the glass. The aroma is sweet malts, caramel, and just a touch of hoppy bitterness. The mouthfeel was light to medium bodied and fairly drinkable. THe flavors starts off sweet and stays sweet with some caramel, burnt malts and a light grassy hop flavor.
