It takes a bit of seasoning to understand that bitter can be a good thing. When you’re a child, you want everything to be sweet. When you’re a teenager, you want everything to be sweeeeet. But when you get a bit wiser and acquire some taste, you realize that bitter is an excellent alternative. It’s a sign of complexity. It’s a sign of maturity. It’s a sign of the times. Face it, modern life demands a little bitterness every once in a while. When you are in the mood for something bitter, Dundee IPA is hop bitterness at its finest. As the youngsters would say, that’s sweet.

Part of their 2013 spring/summer Variety 12-pack purchased in Syracuse, NY. Pours a clean deep amber colour with a frothy, off-white head, good retention and soapy lace. Starts off on mild fresh grassy hops, but eventually alcohol comes out to warm up the nose, with some caramel malts. Wet mouthfeel with a little dryness in the finish, from the hop. Again, mildly hoppy giving a little bitterness. Notes of roasted malts, nuts and grapefruits. This is a decent IPA for those who like the fresh hop aromas and flavours, but on a milder level.

More along the lines of a well balanced pale than what i look for in an ipa. a little citrus, pine and floral notes, but a little too heavy of a malt profile too. i like my IPAs fresh and hoppy.

Poured a lightly hazy light golden amber color with a small off white head that had low retention and light lacing. The aroma had some piney hops at first, with some citrus notes coming in after and had some lightly sweet malts as a base. The Taste was fairly typical, citrus and pine hops mostly, with a lightly tangy-bitter finish. The mouthfeel was relatively smooth and had a nicely dry finish.

This beer has potential, but is just lacking about one point in each category. Aroma is barely there, except some light pine/citrus...which is decent...thus a 7. Light orange-red appearance..thin and light but frothy white head....slightly above average at best. Mouthfeel is good...smooth and mildly carbed....probabably the best thing about this brew. Feels and tastes more like an APA, but hey..it is what it is! Well balanced, but not much hops for an "IPA". Worth the price I guess, but there are so many better ones out there.

This was overall a nice IPA. Amber colored. Big frothy textured white head rises robustly above. Settles eventually into a medium ringlet with fluffs of film aside the glass. Light citric, citric fruit nose. Bolder in the taste balanced in a light maltiness sweetness. Encased in a full bodied, smoothness.

Pours a dark, almost coppery, amber with a decent off-white head. Aroma is fairly hoppy with a firm undertone of grapefruit. Flavor is hoppy, though not strongly so, and somewhat malty with grapefruit and other fruity hints. Texture is fairly fizzy and edgy.

Pours out a golden brown color similar to honey. Aroma is a bit hoppy and taste is similar, maybe with just a touch of honey. Overall, pretty decent.

Out of a sampler pack, did not know they made an IPA . Glad i found out, hard to beleive its 60 bitterness units. Nice flavor, great aroma. Not a lot different then the pale beer. And that was great. Wish i would of tried more of there beers earlier. Recommend.

Pours pale brown with small, scattered head. Raw, grainy notes dominate the aroma along with must; not a good-smelling beer by any standard. The flavor disappoints equally. Light earthiness meets metal. Light, watery body with average carbonation. This is a horrible IPA.

Sampled from bottle. Pours dark copper with a creamy, off-white head. Toasted malt, floral hops and pitted fruit all are equally present in the aroma. On the bitter side of balanced. Lots of berry fruit in the flavor, which with the generous amounts of caramel malt, makes this beer have a bit of a candy-like flavor. A bit odd. Medium-bodied.
