Hops and Robbers was formulated with two great friends who share a passion for Craft beer, conversation, stealth missions (Finding great beer on tap) and travel. Nathan and Claude have always been looking for the next big score for IPA’s, so we decided to produce our own beer for the local market that had a great balance, aroma and IBU’s! This is golden IPA with an exceptionally rich and complex character. Fruity aromas of lemon with hints of pineapple combine crisply with toasty caramel flavours and a tasty malt backbone. Dry hopping with cascade hops ensures more hop aromatics are retained in the finished beer. Made with pride and panache, Double Trouble Brewing’s flagship brand Hops & Robbers is refreshingly delicious. Contract Brewed at Wellington County Brewery in Guelph, Ontario, Canada Note: Name changed to add 'Extra Delicious IPA' after other styles were brewed under the Hops and Robbers banner

Can. Colour - light red, orange hues, cream coloured foamy cap that lasts a long time. Aroma - caramel, citrus, some light pine notes as well. Mouthfeel - light bodied, light carbonation. Maybe a bit flat? Flavour - light caramel and bready notes backed by a weak hop finish. Extra Delicious is not how I would describe this.

When this came out, there were people who were predicting it would take the Ontario IPA market by storm, and after it swung and missed, those people forgot their words (even though they were published). This is an average beer at best, but a below average IPA. It pours a clear copper colour with very little head. The aroma is more caramel than citrus, although the citrusy hop notes are certainly there. The taste is again, more sweet than citrus. Not one I seek out.

In a bomber. "Extra Delicious" crows the label. We'll see. Nice looking pour, a clear medium copper under a fluffy white head. Quite a useful aroma, hops, pine resin, and a hint of grapefruit. All the foregoing was reflected in the flavour, although it did tail off at the finish. Decent enough beer.

Somewhat hazy darker golden yellow color with lasting white foam head, lacing to glass. Aroma is hoppy with some caramel. Taste is hoppy IPA taste with no sweet taste. Aftertaste is lasting bitter hoppy taste. (Ottawa 201210)

Pours a clear light gold colour. Decent head and lacing. Lemon Pledge aroma. Not bad, like the name.Getting good radio coverage with the LCBO but don't think that's enough.

this beer had a nice citrus taste but an average aroma very light.the can was reasonably price. It went down smooth and didn't leave me with a heavy feeling in my stomach. I would buy this beer again.

Poured a pretty small head which didn't stay long but leaves a paper thin layer. Has a light amber appearance. Some wheaty, floral aromas. Very hoppy but a bit more bitter. Citrus flavours, fairly malty. Not too bad.

Wow... the only brew this brewery brews. I guess they are trying to pull a Steam Whistle. An IPA though, so quite the balls for a first one, in Canada. Pours a clean amber colour with an off-white foamy head that stays a while and gives out decent lace. Fruity sweet malts with the hops on top. Nicely balanced bitterness of the hops with the cereal malts. Not too bitter and not too dry. Just refreshing for an IPA. Quite good for an average one (meaning hop bitterness).

550ml draught
5.6% ABV (as marked on menu)
I tried this beer on draught on April 13, 2012 at "C'est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent reddish gold with a thin tan head that laced well. Aroma was caramel malt, and floral hops...not a lot of citrus. Mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour had an acidic tinge to it to go along with some sweet caramel notes, and a weak bitter finish. -

On Tap: Clear amber gold color...decent 2 finger white cap lasts well. Mild carbonation. Aroma is subtle - some light citrus and grassy notes over boiled cereal tones. Mouth feel is kind of weak for something calling itself an IPA, has a dilute feel to it. Flavor has some cream ale type malty sweetness with some pale ale fruity esters, hops are there but more as an unbalance bittering that seems out of place. Fast clean finish with ample bitterness. I can't decide if this is a session bitter or pale ale....it certainly doesn't approximate a micro IPA IMHO. For a first effort this is a kind of let down considering the style they were attempting to interpret ( I assume this was supposed to be a UK-styled IPA)With all the competition around in the local craft market producing intense Brit styled IPAs and off the hook west coast IPAs this offering seems unremarkable. Not a bad beer, just nondescript.
