This is our original brew (we began it all making this very beer on the original teeny, tiny brewery at our Rehoboth Beach brewpub back in 1995) and our most approachable beer. Shelter Pale Ale is brewed with a premium barley and northwestern Willamette & Columbus hops. The beer has a fine malt backbone and a slightly nutty flavor. Shelter Pale Ale is a versatile, quaffable beer. We named this beer 'Shelter Pale Ale' because we liked the concept of a shelter as being a place you come home to. It made sense for this beer, our original beer.

Well, I dunno what to say, I must be having a bad day. Pours orange copper, low low low lilty ring head but decent lacing, aroma is hoppy. Mouthfeel is tingy dirty instead of a nice bite, flavor is leaving me wanting for..flavor. It's "OK", but dang, what's going on?

A very nice, very drinkable and well-balanced pale ale. Pours an amber/copper with a medium white head. Medium bodied with a well-balanced hop-to-malt ratio.

had on tap at Rehoboth beach...a very well balanced, aromatic pale ale. easy drinking, but still somewhat complex for the style. not a west coast, but has a nice hop profile atop a malty sweet backbone. good stuff.

Thanks again to Mdsmith for this one. Given Dogfish Head's reputation for IPAs I was surprised to find that this "Shelter Ale" tasted more like a true IPA than either the 90 or 60 minute IPA. I thought this was a nice beer.

Yeastly, Bready and Malty. I thought I there was a hint of corrinader but I could be wrong. Very Mild pale ale with amazing nose that brings out the flavor well. All in All a very tame APA.

Very mild compared to other DFH beers. Translucent amber gold, almost no head. Sweet wheat & yeast aroma, something I'd expect from a lager, with a mild hint of dust and spice. Bitter in the foremouth with an underlying sweetness at the back. A little dusty flavor too, like Irish lagers. A great match for spicy and salty food.

This beer pours an orangeish/copper body. Plentiful in various aromas- floral, woodsy and grapefruit. Caramel, wood, earth, and peaches in the flavor. A pretty mild APA but tastey.

This poured a light amber color with a nice frothy head. It had a nice malty aroma with a sublte hops presence. It had a slightly dry flavor with a good balance.

The nose is mild but very appealing. Cinamon, pepper, violets and rosemary. A slightly fogged light coppr body is topped with a moderate head that leaves a long-lasting skim coat and laces nicely. Mouth is a touch light with a real nice back of the tongue tickle. I like the flavor a lot! Hopheads are probably going to find it slightly lacking for an American Pale but it is quite hoppy. Starts ever so slightly sweet, goes very nicely bitter and ends exceptionally clean and dry. The malt backbone is really well done with just a hint of a toasted/caramel flavor. I find the balance exceptional. This is a great session beer!

nice coppery color & thick white head. Very flavorful - hoppy and malty - and great aroma. Despite strong flavors, easy to drink both room temperature and chilled.
