Since many decades, the brewers of the Senne valley are brewing Lambic. In the 19th century they have created several fruit beers. The cherry beer on base of Lambic was the first or one of the first. The Chapeau Kriek is made on base of Lambic, a artisanal traditional product which ripe on oaken barrels. The Chapeau Kriek is a fresh and delicious beer for delightful moments.

poured a light red color but made only a thin white rim for a head, which quickly disappears. There was absolutely zero lacing on the glass. With the aroms there is no doubt this is a cherry beer. The taste is of cherries along with plenty of that Belgian lambic yeast for tartness. The mouthfeel is light, crisp, and refreshing with a welcoming medium high level of carbonation to help cut through the sweetness.

These Chapeau's are a waste of money, but this was the best of a bad bunch. Clear ruby red with a huge amount of effervescence. The flavour was sour cherries, and very soda-like. Not my style

Ruby-brown in the glass, smallish cap some lace. Aroma is a decent bouquet of cherry and mustines with grainy malts but a tad too much sweetness...like cherry jello made with beer. Some tartness in the taste, some lambic mustiness but mostly cloying cherry sweetness, Chapeau is not my idea of a drinkable fruit lambic...too shallow and sweet.

Purchase at the LCBO as a seasonal product. Best before date written on back label: 06/02/10. Pours a red-purple colour with a huge pink soapy head. Good retention and a bit of lacing. The carbonation is composed of big bubbles. Smells like those cherry lollipops. Wow ! Taste is quite sour, but finishes pretty fast with hardly any aftertaste. A sweet cherry flavour is in the background. A decent light Kriek, for those who like it on the syrupy-juicy side, and not tarty.

The beer poured a deep red colour, some translucence, with a very thin pink head. The aroma is similar to a child's cherry lollipop. The mouthfeel is light bodied and champagne like. The flavour is very similar to a sour cherry soda. -

Bottle: Poured a deep red color lambic with huge foamy pink color head with some good retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet cherry syrup is totally dominating with no traces of sourness that I would usually associate with a lambic. Taste is also dominated by sweet cherry syrup which is not bad per se but overall this does not taste like traditional lambic but more like a cheap alcohol-pop. Pretty refreshing for what it is but not something I would have very often.

Has some pleasurable fruity aroma! Beautiful creamy sibilation for carbonation. Swirling darker pinkish purple, unfiltered. Farmy barmy fruity flavor. Finish? What finish, confound it, it’s gone!

This fruit lambic pours a hazy cheery red color from a corked and capped 33cl bottle. Medium sized, quickly diminishing white foamy head. Aroma is sour cherries, tart and sweet cherries, there might also be a touch of malt in there as well. A medium bodied fruit lambic. Lots and lots of cherry flavor. Mostly sweet with a hint of tartness. There is a touch of malt and perhaps a little funk somewhere, but this one is mostly sweet cherries. Kind of uneven tasting, but at least its better than the pineapple. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

Pours a dark purplish ruby colour...has some low low lacing...headring is constant....smell is of cherries and sweetness?....taste is nice and sweet, cherry taste is quite nice with a hint of bitterness....a good call but $5 makes this a 'every now and again beer'.. maybe overly sweet for some!

Hazy red opaque colour, reddish foay head. Strong sweet cherry aroma. Semibitter cherry flavour with some strawberryish notes. Standard Kriek, but the colour was surprising.
