Made only with malt, wheat, hops, water, and whole ripe cherries, entirely spontaneously fermented with wild yeasts. A rare, completely natural, traditional lambic beer, with no added sugars, syrups, artificial colors, or flavors. For ages, very rare Schaerbeek cherries have been prized by breweres for the deep rich color and flavor they give to Kriek beer.

For decades, Armand Debelder has worked as a euze blender -- just as his father did -- mixing young and old lambics from other lambic brewers to create the classic beer of Belgium. Armand has lately begun brewing his own lambic. The Drie Fonteinen beers are among the very few traditional and authentic Geuzes and Lambics being made in Belgium today.

Bottle gifted to me after a festival. March 06 on the label. Consumed 2/12. Tulip. Clear, pink, ruby red pour. Smells subtly of cherry skins, grapefruit rind, & wax, with an underlying grain sweetness. Taste is insane. Cherry pop, bittersweet melon rind, & a huge splash of watermelon. Barely any carbonation. Very mellow turned funk, moderate & drying tartness, a slightly lower acidity, but just a whole lot of juicy, candied watermelon. Awesome & so different from other krieks.

Where to begin...2010 vintage split into two tulips. The pour is just a crazy pinkish red, more prounounced color than Lou Pepe Kriek. The aroma is harbinger of the brew, presenting an intensly sour aroma accompanied by earthy funkiess. Acidic mouthfeel with high carbonation, as expected. The flavor is just insane. Intense tartness immediately hits the back of my jaw, dries my mouth, and makes me salivate immediately. Cherries blend with the oak in such a tremendous way that makes this very drinkable. It's more expensive (although more readily availble) than the Cantillon Lou Pepe Kriek, but I believe I prefer this. It's truly phenomenal.

similar in color to the "regular" kriek. a little more vibrant in the aroma and nose, and a touch more puckering and sweeter as well. nice balance. very nice treat. can't remember the exact price, but north of $30, this needed to be a top 10 all timer to revisit. it is not, but it is a very nice beer!

another Drie I've been wanting for a few years.. . Pours a cherry red, low dose of fluffy foam, good rabid dog foam lacing .. . i really sold that shit! .. . cherry, cherry skin, funk, hay, and light oak on the tongue .. . a great fruit lambic that's quite balanced too .. . recommended .. . I know the score of that game, forty-love ..

A great lambic by all measures of the style. It pours a light red colour, some cloudiness, and almost no head. Aroma is tart cherries, sour cheese, and yeast. The flavour is very sour, but in a good way.

Aroma - pulled out the cork and the first whiff was the stomach acid/like-cheesy aroma. Poured into my glass, it’s funky, cherries, vinegar, and cheese.
Appearance - hazy pink body and a airy off-white/pinkish head.
Taste - biting sourness, clean cherry flavor, wood, lemons, funky cheese, stomach acid...wonderful.
Palate - not nearly as mouth stripping that some lambic/gueuze can be, but it’s powerful none the less.
Overall - this beer really let’s the cherry flavor shine, without being a candy mess that most cherry beers tend to be. No sweetness, lots of cherry flavor but along with that ride is all the classic goodness of a lambic. Wonderful and I wish this was sold in cans. Love it. -

Mine said 3 Fonts. Had the pleasure of sampling this at the 1/27/2008 Pittsburgh ratebeer.com gathering and festival upstairs, Sharp Edge Creekhouse. It will be a long time, if ever I am invited again and I see a spread of bottles like I did there - ever again. I am not good enough for the beers that were that we sampled! For example, how about this beer; Schaer Kriek! Thanks linus_stick! Does not possess a hole lotta cherry aroma, but there is s hint of fruit in there I cannot identify. All I get is mostly ’lambic is coming’ on the olfactory. Looks beatifully pinkish with a quick head that fades. Good creamy carbonation that is welcomed. Ropey, farmy beer flavors. Has a unique flavor all its own. Yes, cherries but it is not sour nor sweet. Tart never ending experience. Overall, very acceptable and fun to be with, thanks Alan, I owe you one!

The body is a hazy purple topped by a spritzy pink head. Underneath the typical lambic funk, there’s a spicy almost pepper aroma that actually complements the subdued cherries nicely. The sourness lingers in the finish with a slight astringency. Not very sweet, but interesting.

Bottle courtesy of Boboski: Poured a cloudy bright red/pink color lambic with a medium foamy head with some good retention and lacing. Aroma of sour cherry and oak is pretty dominant and overly enjoyable. Taste is a mix between some sour cherry, tart and oaky notes are also very present. I thought the level of acidity was quite low or at least well balance that it was not getting in the way. This was definitely a notch above the regular kriek and something I wouldn’t mind having again.
