SAQ private import in a green wine bottle all wrapped-up with a piece of paper, labeled at 8% ABV. Pours a cloudy golden-amber with lots of tiny particles floating all-around. The beer also flowed-out of the bottle, creating a big foamy white head with good retention and thick patchy lace. Whatever was left in the bottle continued to rise up. Fruity aromas of oranges and other citruses with Belgian Ale yeast. Hints of sugars and mild hops. The grass is stronger in the taste though, overpowering the fruity malts. The yeast blends thing well and adds some tartiness. A decent Belgian strong ale that has more hop bite than most.

750ml bottle, though the label say 11.2oz (just might be the biggest 11.2 oz bottle I've seen). Pours a very hazy pale orange with a two finger head, that takes forever to fade to a very thick cap. Even at the end there was a good half inch of foam. The lacing that it leaves completely covers the inside of the glass. Smell; starts off a bit musty and a little tart in the aroma. Tropical fruits are present with tangerines, pineapples and grapefruits. There's also some herbal aromas going on, and a bit of pepper and hay. Taste; starts off with citrus, with lemons and grapefruit, and little bit of tangerine. The pineapples are there as well as bit of bananas. In the middle some caramel, and bready malts come through, followed by the spicy, herbal and grassy hops. The mustiness I noticed on the aroma follows through into the flavor, and only seems to add a bit more depth to the finish. Mouthfeel/Drinkability; the mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a bit of a drying finish, and really damn good drinkability.

Poured a golden to amber color with a nice initial head with good retention. Lacing was solid but typical for a Belgian. Aroma was of yeast, coriander, pepper, and light citrus. Tangerines came out mid-glass. The flavor was citrus (slight sour), yeast, coriander and other spices, pepper, tangerines, and a minty note. Mouthfeel was moderate and amply carbonated. This came across like a saison and was darned enjoyable in the summer on vacation!

Comes packaged in a green wine bottle shape, corked and capped, wrapped in a paper bag. Bottled Apr 2004. Interestingly, the label reads the size at 11.2 oz, despite being in a large bottle. WOW, this is an extremely refined brew. Aroma is kind of like bad feet. However, once past that, this is outstanding in a variety of ways, and extremely complex. Spicy, fruity, yeasty, citrusy - all the while very smooth. This is downright outstanding.

11.2 oz bottle at Toronado. 05.22.04 didn’t get bottling date (I had already been at Toronado for a while). Wow! Caramel sweet, deep wine grape aroma. Cloudy, orange/gold color. Finishes sour, apple, barn, cheese. Lingering aftertaste. Bright and exciting beer! Lots of alcohol. What a treat!
