Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. There is no noticeable freshness or born on date on the bottle. Appearance: The body has a dark black look with a very dark reddish brown hue when held up to light. On top is a tan colored foamy head. It slowly fades down to a thin wisp covering that makes some slick lacing. Smell: Its aroma has dark bready notes with some dark roasted and chocolaty barley malt. Hop notes are very mild and add a very light herbal quality to the overall aroma. Taste/Palate: There is a dark bready base with lots of dry, roasted, toasted and chocolaty maltiness. There is a very mild toffee like sweetness underneath that I really like. Hop flavor is well balanced for the style and adds plenty of dry herbal notes to the mix. It finishes very dry with dark chocolaty, toasted and very light coffee notes. The palate has strong medium body with a smooth texture and mellow carbonation. Notes: This is just a good solid Porter. It is very enjoyable, very sessionable and easily my favorite beer from the Cooperstown Brewery.

Benchwarmer Porter is a keeper and worth drinking again. It has a reddish brown color and pours with a thick brown head that has tight small bubbles. The aroma consists mostly of chocolate and roasted malt notes with a hint of flower. Initially I tasted the roasted malt which then proceeded to chocolate, burnt malt and bitter hops and at the end it tasted like dark chocolate.

This is a keeper. I also tried this one at the Colgate Inn. It poured a rich tawny red. The head was small and faded. I have to say that the color is probably one of the best that I have seen. The mouth feel and flavor are smooth. It has the right blend of bitterness with a mellow finish. I had this as part of dinner. I paired it with a gyro that had lamb and greek olives the smooth sweetness of the beer went great with the salty olives. I have to get a six pack of this.

A nice looking porter with a deep, rich color. The aroma has a hint of roasted chocolate. The flavor, while strong, isn't bitter or unpleasant (I'm not often a fans of porters). This one went well with the St. Patrick's Day meal!

tap. Dark brown with no head. Hoppy and roasty. Ok beer. The flavors don’t blend very well with this one. Ok.

A fairly robust porter with a lively mouthfeel and hoppy bitterness. Poured with a smallish head with mostly coffee-like taste.

I was happy to try this one. I was under the impression that it was a baltic porter, then learned on the tour that it only brewed ales. After some research, I learned that baltic porters can be brewed with ale yeast, followed by a lengthy cold conditioning. So, baltic porter, robust porter, whatever, this is pretty damned good. Pours a very dark brown, almost red, with a bubbly long lasting head. Aroma is very chocolaty, with slight roasted coffee notes. Flavor starts off very chocolaty and sweet coffeeish, followed by some pleasant bitterness. A very very smooth beer, which I enjoyed very much. I'm glad I took the time to visit the brewery and try their beers.

Pours with a dark brownbody topped with a faint reddish tint topped by a medium thick head that leaves lats of lace behind. Slightly roasty malt aroma with faint chocolate accents and an odd undertone. Roasty malt flavor with a touch of sweetness and a roasty bitter malt finish. Full bodied and relatively smooth.
