The Ottawa Pale Ale is different from any other beer brewed by The Clocktower Brew Pub over its 21 year history. What makes it truly unique lies in the yeast used to ferment the beer. In preparing for the O.P.A. we asked our friends at Rideau Pine Farms for a selection of wild red currants which were forwarded to our yeast supplier. The yeast supplier then carefully isolated an individual yeast strain from the wild berries, which we used in fermentation process. The final result is a completely individual beer made with ingredients from the Ottawa region, craft brewed at the Clocktower Brewery for you, the local craft beer lover. Ottawa Pale Ale is the perfect beer to celebrate both the summer patio season and Canada's momentous 150th birthday! Tasting Notes: The Ottawa Pale Ale is an unfiltered, light bodied and refreshing beer. The use of the Ottawa yeast strain adds elements of strawberries, blueberries, and watermelon, giving the beer a balanced fruit profile while having subtle hop notes. As with the yeast, the grain selection used in the O.P.A. is a tribute to the traditional pale ale recipes found in the Ottawa region, at the turn of the century. Enjoy!

Pours a clean light-amber colour with a golden hue, a light beige small head and a little ring around. Grainy cereal malt aromas with some caramel notes and hints of hops. The hops are slightly spicy and more present in the taste, with still lots of grains, like rye notes - which is different for a pale ale, but nice. I do like the spicy hops used in here.
