this is an old new beer. i've been to Anderson Valley twice and had never seen it til last week, there or anywhere else, but it's been around a long time. Brewed at Sierra Nevada in 1985 and moving to other breweries ever since (in Boonville since 06). It's a pretty cool beer so why i've never seen it is a mystery. casted as an american pale ale, but really more of an english style, amber in color, lots of malt with some fruit in the aroma and just a hint of spice. nice balance in aroma and flavor. not overcomplicated (ie-fairly simple) but tasty and a bit unique. recomended.

This American Pale Ale pours a deep amber brown color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized fairly dense white foamy head, with nice lacing and good retention. A medium bodied American Pale Ale. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are floral and citrusy. Kind of a strange beer for an APA, the malt profile is way caramel and sweet and the floral hops are sort of left behind. There is a almost tropical flavor here, very different, and I am not sure I like it all that much. It kind of grows on you but it is kind of strange. Good carbonation. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is a slight bitterness that linger a while.
