This smooth amber ale with its mellow nutty flavor and subtle flowery nose is a hit with even the newest of speciality beer drinkers. Named from the Algonquin word for the Wisconsin River, Ouisconsing Red makes even our neighbors to the south and west "want to be a Badger."

A very metallic and grainy nose on a pretty pale red beer with a soapy white head. Very clear beer but the faintest red I have ever seen. Flavor is metallic, bitter and grainy. Not bad beer but shine on is such a better red, just not that into this beer.

Ouisconsing is the French version of a Miami Indian name for the river that runs 430 miles through the center of our state (spelled "Wisconsin" in English). The Miami are a North American Indian tribe which inhabited an area to the south and west of Lake Michigan when the first Europeans entered the area in the later 1600s. The Miami were relocated to Oklahoma in the mid-1800s; today the two main groups of Miami are found in Oklahoma and in Indiana. This is such an appropriate moniker for this Central Waters Red Ale, as recent scholarship has concluded that in Miami "Ouisconsing" meant, "this stream meanders through something red." Historical linguist Michael McCafferty has convincingly argued that this was a reference to the red sandstone bluffs of the Wisconsin Dells. This beer pours with a well-carbonated copper colored body and a dense white head with moderate lacing. A lightly sweet malty nose with faint hop aroma. Mouthfeel is full, firm and crisp. Flavors are a fine blend of mild caramel malts and assertive bitter and citrusy hops. Complex satisfying finish, as fine as a long canoe trip down the mighty "Ouisconsing".

A very taste brew, Bright reddish coppre colour, medium white head. slightly hoppy finish but full flavor of sweet malts. Slightly silky texture, and an aroma of cherries, apples and raddishes.
