Cask at The Harp, London. Very dark reddish brown colour, low beige head. Moderate aroma, notes of lightly roasted malts, hints of mild coffee, some vinous notes. Soft mouthfeel. The flavour has notes of moderately roasted malts and mild coffee, not very sweet.

How many porters does one brewery beed? This is at least the 2nd porter I've had from the Burton Brewery. I've been told that the bottled version (which I had) is far inferior to the cask version. The bottled version poures a dark reddish brown with a long lasting tan head. The aroma is roasted malt and coffee. The taste is weak roasted malt and strong bitter molasses.

Cask. Deep rubyish amber colour, not much head. Aroma is wood, some roasted malts and quite fruity and nectary notes. Flavour is wooden, fruity, grassy and some caramel.

Cask handpump at the Swan in the Rushes, Loughborough. Dark ruby coloured with a slim creamy white head. A bit of fruit in the aroma. Some dark fruit, coffee and dark malts in the taste. Pretty good, but spoilt by a watery mouthfeel.
