Comes out of the growler an opaque coffee brown with a very thick and rather persistent tan head. Aroma is SERIOUSLY hoppy - like a cross between fresh hay and freshly baked bread, plus earthy, dusty and malty notes and a touch of chocolate. Strongly hoppy flavor is only a little bitter and has delightful mocha, earthy, horehound and nutty notes. Subtle sweetness nicely balances the bitterness from the hops. Firm texture is quite fizzy, leaving a very hoppy and almost stout-like smoky mocha finish. It doesn’t get much better than this! What a heartbreaker this was brewed only once. :(
