Haymaker Extra Pale Ale Make Hay. It's an old, old phrase from a much simpler time. It's optimistic. It's positive. And it's the two words that sum up Haymaker Extra Pale Ale, the newest brew from BridgePort Brewing Company. Haymaker is a refreshing, extra pale ale that is simply sunshine in a bottle! It's a distinct blend of four malts and three varieties of hops that create a slightly complex, crisp and bright ale. So enjoy often and "Make Hay!"

Decent lacing. Pale yellow color. Not really any aroma. Served in a plastic glass that was pretty cheesy. Very little hops and a bready malt. More of an english version. Not that great but drinkable.

Bottled (thanks Kalevi Kurronen!). Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is bready malts, some slight yeastyness, and quite dull. Flavour is fruity, earthy a bit yeasty and quite dull.

Sampled 10/25/2008. This American Pale Ale pours a medium yellow gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is a touch of malt and grain, some hops and a bit of fruitiness. A medium bodied American Pale Ale. The malts are grainy, fruity and sweet. The hops are mildly grapefruity and piney. Decent balance. It does seem a bit thin tasting and all the flavors are a bit mild. Touch or orange flavors and a bit of carbonation fizziness as well. Not bad, but not great either. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. The finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Aroma is of grain and some faint maltiness with sweetness as well as some fresh hay and some sunshine with some slight bitterness. Appearance is a golden yellow in color with a fuzzy, full head on top that is bleach-white in color and remains leaving slight lacing. Mouthfeel is clean and sharp with some decent malty complexity and slight must hops with a palate that is clean and wet-like. Flavor is grainy, fresh, malty, and hay-like with an aftertaste that is wet-like and tasty with some unassertive hops bite and a finish that is refreshing and smooth. Overall, not a bad brew here but, stylistically speaking, this is more of a American blonde ale and not so much of an American pale ale in my opinion but still a good Summertime beach-bumming ale or a lawn mowing, thirst-quenching ale for sure...Very fresh tasting beer here and recommended...

This reminds me a lot of lionshead malt liqour. The only difference here is that this beer is slightly more tolerable, and I could actually finish the whole thing. It pours straw yellow with a frothy head that kind of reminds me of concentrated saliva on a hot summer day. It smells and tastes of corn with a sharp, sour finish. DMS anyone? This is just not good. I am surprised that this is a Bridgeport beer.

Pours a light golden/butterscotch with fairly thick white head and thick lace. Aroma of hops, various malts, light citrus, mint, and pepperous spice. Solid mouthfeel: smooth, tender, and full-bodied. Flavor of malts, hops, lemony-citrus, and mild spices.

This is the summer brew from bridgeport. Pretty good. (although to me its hard to make a summer type brew bad) It is really just pretty average. In the beer world average= drinkable and good.
