An unfamiliar style, this Double Pilsner, but refreshing and enjoyable. This poured a very pretty golden color with a fluffy off-white head that left ample lacing. A bready aroma, with a very slight hint of Noble hops. A malty, very German flavor, with both hops and ABV discrete and not "in your face". Smooth and slightly sticky mouthfeel, with a mildly bitter finish. Grabbed it from the close-out basket at Discount Liquor, and no regrets. A nice quaff.

4-pack for $4 on clearance. Had to give it a try. Quite good for a pilsner and true to the style. Heavier of course though since it's an imperial. Grassy, earthy, and wheaty flavors. Crisp mouthfeel. Cloudy medium pale yellow appearance. Still a little rusty though since it's a pilz. I'd say this is more of a summer or spring beer though.

It took some time for me to get into this one. In appearance it started out well. A bold golden colored beer with a big frothy textured, white head. There was great hang time. A thick foamy ringlet and splotches of film are left behind. It was at this point I had to warm to this one. A little too bready sweet at first. But as it warmed the floral hops start to balance it out. Medium bodied, creamy.

Not what i was expecting at all, the waitress didnt mention this was a imperial pils, when it showed up it i expected the usual pale, thin, fizzy pilsner but this one had a deep golden body, the head was thin but left some lacing. Nice malty taste with a immediate and lasting bitterness, behind the bread a noticeable floral hop presence rounded this one out. The alcohol was well hidden, but i could feel it towards the end of the first pint. A very nice surprise indeed, kudos to Breckenridge on this one.
